Ian Sylvestry can't seem to escape past mistakes he'd made as a teen. Granted, this one was huge as he ended up doing time for his irresponsible behavior. Maleah Turner is often left wondering if she'd just met with him that night instead of allowing her family to talk her out of it, would things have turned out different? Would they be together?

"We all have a past. But what if our mistakes still shame us to the core?" Or more importantly, do those close to you ever let you forget it or is it one of those things that will forever be a thorn in their side?

In THE MAN SHE KNEW by Loree Lough, we have front row seats to the battles Ian must face post release and he works to make a new life for himself. And the girl he loved has become a woman and she isn't quick to forgive.

Likes: the internal dialogue as they both reminisce about their past. Reminds me a bit of the term, "negative self-talk" and it's oh so poignant. Joe. Joe is an awesome brother.

Dislikes: Meleah's brother, Eliot, had me climbing the walls. While that's good, in that it means his character is well-written, my immediate sympathy for Ian had me wanting to gag Eliot because his well-intentioned comments were anything but and I found them grating. Okay, maybe that's me. And as much as I disliked the internal dialogue where both Ian and Meleah were self-judging each other for their past mistakes, I also listed it in my likes as it greatly enhanced the story and strengthened my sympathy for both characters along with my desire for their HEA.

This is a story about lost loves, second chances, forgiveness, and redemption and it's lovely.

"The future is stardust, because you can dream it; the present is clay, because you can mold it; but the past is stone, because you can never change it."
