The Winds of Heaven: Two sets of twins come together in this hot medieval romance. Twin sons of a Welsh prince, Rhun and Rhydderch, are well known for their striking red hair, good looks, and warrior's skills. When an accident befalls their brother and brother-in-law, they end up in a small Welsh village looking for a bonesetter. Glain is attracted to both brothers and they to her. With the help of her twin, Isolda, she leads the brothers on a merry dance. Sadness and heartbreak befall them, but in the end they all find their happy ending. Full of wonderful details of the period that bring the story to life, and with a cast of likeable characters, this is a delightful short romance. At times fun, at times sad, but ultimately satisfying.
Dark and Bright: This is the third book I've read by Anna Markland, and I enjoyed it just as much as the other two. She really has a gift for describing the time period. From the first paragraph, I was immersed in the world. Rhys is the son of the Welsh prince, Rhodi, but he's a peacemaker rather than a warrior. I really liked, Rhys. He is a decent and honorable man, determined to live in peace with his Norman neighbours and to learn from them to improve the lot of his countrymen. To rescue his two warrior brothers Rhun and Rhydderch (the heores of The Winds of the Heavens)he takes Annalise, the niece of a Norman Earl, as his wife. Dark and Bright is a lovely story of how Rhys and Annalise come to love each other. It was also wonderful to see more of characters from the other books, especially Baudoin and Carys. Great for all lovers of historical romance and anyone who enjoys authentic historical fiction.
