How is it possible that Lori Foster never writes anything but romance gold? She's done it again with HOLDING STRONG!

Cherry Peyton's flirty attitude and T&A looks are driving MMA fighter Denver Lewis nuts. He wants her, but doesn't want to want her, and he's sure her party girl persona and his alpha male tendencies wouldn't gel...Denver doesn't share. Cherry has been going nuts over Denver since they met, but it seems that nothing she does to get his attention ever works. When Denver finally drops his guard and gives in to temptation, they're positively explosive together, and Denver finds he has a tough fine thinking about anything but the curvaceous blonde bombshell. They're both struck by just how powerful their connection is, but neither are able (or willing) to fight it. Cherry has some very bad men after her just as Denver is trying to prepare for a big fight. With his attention split, what will suffer? Can either of them trust their crazy strong feelings when the other doesn't know the whole truth of their pasts?

HOLDING STRONG is the 3rd book in the Ultimate series about a group of MMA fighters from small town Ohio working to make it big in the professional arena. I have to say, at first glance Cherry isn't your typical heroine. She's bold, flirty and constantly surrounded by men, outspoken and asks for what she wants. Combine that with the name Cherry and I judged her pretty damn quick. She definitely didn't wind up being the woman I expected, and I admired her strength the more the story unfolded. Fiery and passionate, she kept Denver on his toes, even though his character was about as far from an engaging MC as you could get. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Alpha male protective streak, but his character was so level and never seemed to variate from a single tone, be it a sex scene or a a potential fight with Cherry's foster brothers.

The chemistry was definitely there between them, and Denver was a hot and sexy hero, more sensitive and contemplative and introspective than you'd expect a professional fighter to be, but the contrast of the big strong jock with such a caring and protective side was definitely hot. The way he stuck by Cherry and nursed her back to health in the beginning was incredibly sweet and sexy at the same time. The sex scenes were erotic but yet not over the top, and surprisingly vanilla. The hottest scenes came from the anger element that fired up Denver's blood and turned him a little tougher and rougher and harder. This is absolutely one series I'm looking forward to reading more books in, as I count Ms. Foster as one of my favorite authors who never puts out a stinker!

Bottom Line: HOLDING STRONG is an excellent read, and even though Denver is rather one dimensional, it's still a welcome addition to my large Lori Foster library.
