Alastair MacKay escaped to the sea but when he rescues a woman from a slave trader in Ireland, he inadvertently steps back into the world of magic and takes on the role of protector once more in this enthralling paranormal fantasy romance.

Fiona O'Quinlan fell asleep on an archeological dig and awakens in another time where she is entrusted with a Dragon Knight's relic. The reader can't help but get caught up in the story as Fiona tries to soothe the beast and heal the man before death swings its axe, leaving them lost for all eternity. This romance is one step away from being impossible because of Alastair's past which has plenty of emotional turmoil flowing from the pages to grip readers by the heart and in my case had me wanting to soothe and heal Alastair as well. Let's not forget all the distress that Fiona faces each day of her new life. These strong compelling characters draw you into their story and are easily related to as they sort out what destiny has in store for them in this steady to fast paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement, romance and magic.

Anticipation builds as Alastair is forced to confront his greatest regrets and fears while spine tingling tension builds as the excitement of Fiona and Alastair's journey leads them into dangerous territory when their enemies try to stop them. There is lots of heated clashes between these two as they are both quite headstrong. The story is well written with lots of vivid details that brings this historical setting to life and ensures that the reader feels right at home as the intriguing events hold them hostage.

The author has created a fascinating world full of intriguing characters and I fall in love with each brother as I read their stories and I really can't wait to read Angus' story. Note: you could read these out of order because each brother's story is his own, although the overall conflict with evil is ongoing and crosses stories but the author gives you enough to go on so you don't get lost.
