THE HOTTER THEY COME is a story of following the heart and doing what's right, or at least the beginning of one. It is the first part of Piper and Jack's romance, so don't expect a sunshine and roses, happy ever after ending.

The writing is good, and the characters are interesting enough, considering what information we're given, but the story felt a bit rushed. Jack and Piper have an instant attraction to each other, and there is good chemistry between them, but most of their time together is spent generating steam. Steamy fun doesn't always equate to love, so I really didn't get much actual romance between them. There were a couple of witty and fun moments between them. I especially liked their first meeting.

I realize this is just the beginning of this couple's story, and there's only so much that can be put into the less than one hundred pages, but I didn't see enough emotional development for the big pronouncements and life-changing decisions we're left with. As it stands, the story was interesting enough, but without that emotional connection, I was left somewhere in the middle on this one, and I'm still undecided on whether or not I'll continue with the series.
