I've always loved reading and writing and for ages couldn't decide if I wanted to major in history or English. As a matter of fact, as a college freshman, I briefly considered becoming an archeologist until I realized there likely would be bugs and snakes involved. And math.
That settled it. English. Later, after more than a decade as a newspaper reporter and editor, I returned to school for advanced degrees so I could teach.
I now live in Missouri, where by day I'm a mild-mannered English teacher at a local college, and by night I'm an intrepid plotter of tales featuring heroines to die for—and heroes to live for.
And on weekends? Well, I'm a soft touch grandmother.
