I never planned to be a writer. Growing up I wanted to be an artist and art teacher and though I still draw and paint, my focus has become fiction – something I think I was born to do.
Luckily I married a very successful horse racing journalist who (and high-school sweetheart), Tony Brassel whose fascination with cutting edge technology provided me with the tools to become a writer.
After getting a history degree and having two wonderful kids, I took those tools and began playing with words. Fifteen years later, my first novel, Trust in Dreams was released., shortly followed by Honour Bound (both available on Amazon Kindle).
In 2005, my third novel, a Young Adult fantasy adventure, Staff of Fire hit the shelves. At the same time, I decided to better hone my craft with a Masters degree in Creative Writing from Sydney University.
The study brought about a slight change in direction for my writing. I currently divide my time between ancient Egyptian historicals novels, modern ghost stories with a twist and fantasies aimed at the 10 to 14-year-old age group.
Along the way I've taught creative writing at community colleges and writing centres here in Sydney, won and placed in a number of international writing competitions and served as first treasurer, then president of Romance Writers of Australia.
