Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance

Dylan Deveney has no interest in a wild fling. He simply wants a quiet place where he can try to forget a painful past and, barring that, drink himself to death. But when he catches a glimpse of his exquisite neighbor—in the buff—his passion for life reignites.

Cassie French can't resist Dylan's allure. From his scruffy beard to his earring to his intriguing dragonfly tattoo, she's crazy about him. And sex between them is scorching. Everything seems perfect…until a tragedy from Dylan's past threatens to ruin everything.

If there was ever a book that shows me how much emotion an author can put into her characters, DRAGONFLY KISSES is the one.

Deep in depression after the death of his daughter from cancer, Dylan Deveney spends his days as a smart mouthed radio announcer and his nights trying to drown his sorrows in alcohol. He avoids his family as much as possible, especially his nieces and nephews. He goes to Tryst Island to get away from people and his own demons. But one weekend, he spots a woman that brings out feelings in him that he hasn't been able to have for years. When he discovers who she is, by sheer chance, he finds himself drawn to her, yet he knows he cannot have her.

Cassandra French, Cassie to her friends, is a famous cellist who makes beautiful music that soothes Dylan's soul. When her roommates arrange to run into him on the beach, he ends up tripping at the sight of her and falling, twisting his ankle. Despite his best attempts, he cannot get her friends to understand he is not interested in them, but he is more than interested in Cassie. When she later brings him a set of crutches, he bribes her with bacon and passion instantly ignites. But Dylan fears passing on the Remlinger gene and when a passionate mistake sends him running, Cassie wonders if they will ever be able to be together.

This book had me laughing, crying and lusting all in a short amount of time. Dylan is so devastated by the loss of his daughter three years earlier that he barely functions on a normal day. His story is a heartbreaking one. You can feel his hurt and understand the reasons he does what he does. That, of course, doesn't stop you from wanting to shake him, but you can understand his fear. Cassie is patient and kind and just the type of person Dylan needs to help him learn to relive life. In between all of this are sizzling hot sex scenes that leave you in need of a cold drink. This book really delivers and I would highly recommend it.
