Erotic Romance, Paranormal Romance, Vamps & Shifters Romance
Jasmine is a witch who needs her mate, as evidenced by the fact that she can bring things back to life—whether she wants to, or not. When corpses begin to come back to life while she's around, things get interesting, not to mention messy. When she awakens a male who keeps insisting he loves her, Jasmine runs. What sane person wouldn't?
When a very beautiful and talented witch wakes Ryuu from his deep slumber, he feels a connection immediately. When he pursues her, she runs. It's almost enough to give him a complex until he realizes the poor girl thinks she reanimated him from dead tissue. Now, all he needs to do is convince her that she's his mate and that he's the Spirit Dragon, not a zombie.

Dragons, witches and zombies, oh my! Ms. Xander is my go-to paranormal dragon romance writer. The Spirit Dragon is the sixth in this series. Jasmine is a witch whose power is uncontrollable until she finds her one mate and accepts him into her life.
This story was working pretty well with the reason why Jasmine doesn't want a dragon mate even if it will help her control her magic. Randomly bringing dead animals and humans alive is pretty gross and disturbing. However, when her perfect mate, Ryuu finds her, it seems all will work out.
This is where it becomes very confusing. Jasmine's experience with domineering dragon male can put any woman off of mating. It seems her denial of Ryuu's suit makes sense - she is afraid of losing herself under his control. Then suddenly, some other excuse became the reason for why she doesn't want to be with him. It's almost as if she forgot her real reasons and came up with some bogus explanation as to why she doesn't want him. The resolution to this confusing conflict is glossed over with the help of a dead baby wooly mammoth. This caused for quite a bit of head scratching and re-reading to understand how I ended up on this path. I ended up puzzled and gave up trying to figure out how this story ended the way it did.
This dragon shifter story is one of the weaker stories by the talented Ms. Xander.
