Book 7 of Masters of the Shadowlands
BDSM, Erotic Romance

When trying to save a woman from slavers, Sam screwed up. Royally. Now Linda wants nothing to do with him. Or with BDSM. She won't even admit she's a masochist. As a dominant and sadist, he can give her what she needs, and when an opportunity arises, he slips into her life, intending to make amends. She's everything he knew she would be...except for her bullheaded determination to be 'normal'.

Now the horrible time is past, Linda just wants to return to her small conservative town, pick up her quiet life, and be normal. But how can someone who likes pain be 'normal'? To her dismay, when someone spray-paints her home with obscenities, Sam shows up to rescue her. Again. Doesn't he understand that the last thing she needs in her life is a sadist? He's amused by her objections. But his dry sense of humor doesn't disguise that he's tough as nails and dominant and stubborn. He's not going to let her drive him off this time. All too soon, she realizes she wants him to stay.

When he takes her to the Shadowlands, she finds a new home...until she hears a voice from out of her nightmares.

Note: This book contains strong but consensual sadistic elements that may be uncomfortable for some readers.

When a sadist and a masochist get together, it can hurt so good! I am so in awe of Master Sam and Linda's story. I've had to wait absolutely FOREVER (ok, really 18 months, but still!) to read this story and it was definitely worth the wait. Cherise Sinclair has brought us deeper into the darker side of the BDSM world, and I loved every single minute of it. THIS IS WHO I AM is a prime example of why I am proud to be a reader of erotica. It had an amazing story, wonderfully created characters, but didn't skimp on the intense sensuality I want in the books I like to read.

THIS IS WHO I AM is the story of sadist Dom Sam and submissive masochist Linda, who we met in the last Masters of the Shadowland book. They have an intense scene together in that book which sets the groundwork for this one, so if you haven't read To Command and Collar yet, you must!

Linda is trying to get back to her life after being captured and held as a sex slave by human traffickers. She wants to return to her small town and live like a "normal" person although she's being called by the world of BDSM and to the man that made her feel alive in the middle of her nightmare.

Sam knows that he's got what Linda needs no matter how hard she tries to deny it. So, when she went in the Shadowlands, he shows her just what he can do. As they start to discover each other and themselves, however, Linda's nightmare becomes all too real again.

Wow! Just...Wow! I really don't feel I have words to do justice to this book. Linda's story was heartbreaking, but that woman's strength just floored me. How she was able to come back from what she suffered was just amazing me. I have to admit that I wasn't a total fan of Sam, but he really grew on me. Linda, though, really made this one for me. The fact that both Sam and Linda weren't your typical twenty-somethings put a unique perspective on the book as well.

I have said this before, but I really feel like Cherise Sinclair is taking us on a journey through BDSM. Her books have gotten more intense as they've gone along and THIS IS WHO I AM is a step up from the last one in my opinion. More pain, more heavy scenes, but still it held on to that element of romance and kept me absolutely fascinated. I wouldn't say that it's heavy BDSM but it is certainly more intense that what I saw in book one.

This continuation of the human trafficking story that has been ongoing for the last few books has kept me intrigued and the characters that it has brought to the Shadowlands has made the series even better. It also puts a face on a problem that's all too real, unfortunately.

Obviously, with the way I'm gushing, THIS IS WHO I AM is a five-star read for me. I loved the story, the characters, the intensity, and most importantly, the eroticism. I hope you all will give it a try.

I cannot wait for this series to continue. It just keeps getting better and better, and it is a reminder as to why Cherise Sinclair is an auto-buy author for me!
