But when her worst nightmare becomes a reality, Johnny is the only person who can pull Ali out of her despair, forcing her to stay strong and not give up hope of finding her missing child.
Who falls in love after a one-night stand? Johnny Rhay doesn't believe it's possible until it happens to him. With Nashville in his rear-view mirror, he's determined to convince Alison she loves him too, even if it means moving to the West Coast.

At least, he believes he's up for it until baby Micah is stolen right out from under his nose. The second worst thing that can happen to a mother is having her baby ripped from her arms, not knowing if her child is okay or, worst of all, dead.
There is so much that I loved about this story. The emotional state of both Johnny and Ali was gut-wrenching and so real. I really don't know what I would do if my child was taken from me, to feel helpless because you weren't able to stop the bad guys. This is about real life and what lots of mothers go through all over the world and how they deal with the kidnapping, what happens afterwards and how to start living life again. Once I started reading this story, I could not put down my Nook, as I wanted to figure out who could've done this to Ali.
In PRECIOUS EMBRACE, I was able to get to know more about Ali, the ex-wife of Mark from Dangerous Embrace. She had a part in the first book of this series and she so captured my imagination that I'm happy she got her own book.
Ali is a good mother but she's had two failed marriages, and that has done something to her self-esteem. Now she has a man who seems to want to help her, who wants to be with her, but could it be because of baby Micah and not her?
Johnny has his own story. He was Sarah's eighth grade boyfriend, and he knew Nashville held nothing for him. When he was helping the Santa Rosa Police Department with Sarah's stalker, he met Ali. Now that he had slept with Ali (at Mark and Sarah's wedding), he knew she was the one for him. So when Brian called him about a detective job with the Santa Rosa's Police Department, he took the job offer and moved. He has the chance to get to know Ali better, and in the process he fell in love with her and her children, Micah and Jamie.
Johnny knew he was in love with her but he knew that if he let her know his feelings too early, there was a possibility she would push him away. He also can't tolerate being lied to and, along with that, he has some trust issues that may affect his relationship with Ali.
Both Ali and Johnny had this intense chemistry between them that they could not break. When Micah was kidnapped, that is where my heart broke for Ali, the waiting, the constant crying, the not eating, the wondering if her baby was being taken care of. Johnny and Ali both felt so helpless and they needed each other to move forward each day, to stay strong. When word came that a baby was found, they were scared. Could Micah truly be dead? Was it too late to rescue him?
PRECIOUS EMBRACE is full of emotions that made my heart ache. I wanted to kill this person with my bare hands for causing this mother so much pain. The pace of the story moved quickly, the chapters flew by, and the story was amazingly interesting. The suspense of Micah's kidnapping was captivating. The characters were well-developed and I loved the sizzling hot sex scenes; Johnny is a very passionate man. He is a controlling man when it comes to the people he loves, and especially when he believes they are in danger. He's a caring man and his love pours out of him in bucketfuls.
As for Ali, she feels insecure in starting a new relationship with another man. She believes it's time to solely focus on her children, but when the heart loves, there is no telling the future. When she starts making excuses or comments to push Johnny away, it was a way for her to protect her heart. But what about Johnny? What is going to happen when he has had enough of her denials?
The plot is so well put together everything fits in. Ms. Mason's writing is intense, focused and clear; she has truly written a wonderful story.
I highly recommend PRECIOUS EMBRACE and if you haven't read the first book in this series yet, I highly recommend you to start with Dangerous Embrace.
