After a fiery exit from Afghanistan, Tim Madison is promoted to major. Jeremy Wagner is a civilian, just beginning his Transition to True Alpha. As a lone wolf, he has no one to teach him the vital principles of strong leadership. After a volatile chance encounter, Tim and Jeremy form an intimate bond.

As Jeremy prepares to someday lead his own pack, Tim struggles with military werewolves being needlessly maimed in combat, as well as specifically targeted by hostile forces. Despite Tim and Jeremy's feelings, werewolf and human politics or family conflict could prevent their mate-bond.

Having read the others in this series, I was chomping at the bit to read this one. And once again Kendall McKenna delivers on her promise to make a reader squee in delight as the tale of the men from the previous books--Captain Tim Madison, Lt. Lucas Young, Dominant and True Alpha Sergeant Noah Hammond--continues.

STRENGTH OF THE WOLF is Tim's story. The three men are still closely entwined with each other, and when Lucas and Noah are called back to the US as part of a new military unit, with new challenges to face, Tim is promoted to Major.

An incident in a car park brings Tim face to face with a young civilian shifter called Jeremy Wagner. Jeremy is just beginning his transition to becoming a True Alpha, and his hormones and emotions are running riot. It will take a true mate to help him overcome his rage, his fear and his insecurities at being a Lone Wolf, having been cast out of his pack. And Tim is such a man.

The relationship between the two develops at a scorching pace, hot, sexy and emotional. Tim has been looking for a relationship like Lucas and Noah's for a long time and now, in Jeremy, he's found it.

Kendall McKenna writes so brilliantly of the military lifestyle, the history of the werewolves and their hierarchy, and develops the world we are living in to such an extent that it is real and around us. We can forget for a moment that we are in the real world and escape into one where honor, integrity, ritual and male bonding is incredibly rich and brings a lump to your throat with its emotional pull.

Lucas and Noah are still madly in love, their incendiary relationship and feelings for each other jumping off the page and I'm so glad they are back in this one. They add such a lot to the story.

Once again, a brilliant read from Kendall McKenna, a true work of love and devotion that has you cheering each and every character on towards happiness and fulfillment. A definite must read.
