After escaping its mysterious grasp twelve years ago, Ethan Wilde never thought he'd return to Kingston, North Carolina—until the murder of an old schoolmate draws him back to the hometown he fears and the love he left behind. Rooted to Kingston by a force he can't explain, Jesse couldn't leave with Ethan when he asked, and it's a choice he's always regretted. A choice based on a terrible secret they share with four others. When they were nine years old, the six of them were taken into the woods, and no one is exactly sure what happened to them. Only that they came out changed. Marked. Twenty years later, the evil that hunted them is back and it's collected two souls already. Ethan and Jesse's love defeated the monster once, but are old feelings strong enough to save the survivors a second time?

PRODIGAL is a great story, full of action, surprises and tenderness.

Ethan Wilde returns to his home town of Kingston, North Carolina and unwittingly enters a part of his life he thought was over. Except for the presence of Jesse, dark-haired and blue-eyed and the love of Ethan's life. They'd been young boys then; now they were both men. But twelve years later, the man still has the power to take his breath away.

Six people underwent a life changing experience in the woods twenty years ago and now it's time to understand exactly what happened. Ethan is back for a funeral of one of the six and his instincts tell him something evil is lurking in the town, something that has summoned him back to finish what it started.

PRODIGAL is a roller coaster of a story, full of supernatural happenings, deaths, old relationships being revived and old fears being brought to bear and through it all, there is the love Jesse and Ethan had for each other, which still burns brightly. Ethan needs to find out why Jesse never left with him all those years ago; he needs to know how he himself managed to escape the hold the town has on the other five.

The relationship between Jesse and Ethan develops at a fast pace, scorching, sexy and with the interplay between the two both gentle and rough, as they get to know one another again as more experienced men. There's conflict and misunderstandings, want and desire and a burning need to finish this dreadful tableau of grief and misery the entity is causing before it destroys more people. But at what cost?

I was really rooting for the guys to get things sorted so they could be together again. I wasn't too sure what happened at the end and how Ethan and Jesse were finally freed. It was the one part of the story I found a little frustrating and felt could have used more detail as to how the evil was defeated. But this is still a great story and has many wonderful moments that will make you smile and feel for these men, and I'd definitely recommend it.
