The latest addition to The Angler series is an emotional rollercoaster of a romantic paranormal read. While on the run with her two lovers Rurik and Tane, Connie must figure out what's causing Rurik to change before she loses him to blood lust or the Nosferatu.
This fast-paced plot keeps the reader on their toes with lots of suspense, drama, action and emotional upheaval. The author brings the story to life with vivid images and details that capture the imagination and the characters are strong, compelling, easily related to and grabs the reader's attention from the beginning.
The author conveys all the emotions of the characters with such intensity that the reader gets totally caught up in the drama of the fight for Rurik's life. The story packs a lot of emotional punch into such a short story as Connie wants to save Rurik's life but also has to help Tane, all while on the run from the Nosferatu and slayers. This one story brings tears, anger, jealousy, laughter and smiles to the reader throughout. The romance between Connie and her two men still burns bright and the sex scenes are hot and steamy, but of course this story focuses on keeping Rurik and themselves alive.
The tension builds as the characters try to hide from the Nosferatu long enough to figure out a plan, and the scenes and battles are well written and orchestrated, which makes it easy for the reader to feel as if they are part of the story.
Overall, I was totally engrossed in the story from beginning to end, but if you haven't read the previous books in the series I highly recommend that you do so. The book can be read by itself, but to get the full impact you should really know the characters and their full histories together, where they started and how they got to where they are now and just how much they deserve the happy ending they got at the end of this story... sorry, I'm not going to spoil the surprise.
