Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance
Arrogant womanizer Kyle Manchester hates blind dates; however, when best friend, Brad calls in a favor, insisting Kyle take out his girlfriend's sister, Kyle reluctantly agrees. Attorney Lanie Carmichael's appearance is no surprise. She is dowdy, awkward, and dressed in so many layers she resembles a wedding cake, but not in an edible way. Her brazen attitude though, astonishes him, especially when she explains she has no interest in gorgeous Kyle. Lanie Carmichael is in love with Brad, and wants Kyle's assistance in winning his best friend's heart.
Kyle gradually accepts, justifying that the mystery of Lanie has sparked his natural, thirsty curiosity. As an ambitious journalist, he also can't resist the Pulitzer worthy scoop she offers him. However, as Lanie sheds more layers, both emotionally and physically, Kyle begins to examine his life choices, and his true feelings for this enigmatic girl. With Kyle's support, Lanie begins to unravel the secrets of her past, and the deep pain that has quietly defined her life. As they each learn more about themselves and each other, both question how a relationship built on fraudulent lies between two broken people could ever survive.

Friendship is a powerful thing, especially when you have none. When your own family treats you like shit but this one person does everything in their power to make you feel good, you'd wonder: Is it pity or true friendship?
This read is amazing! I could not help but laugh, giggle and smile throughout this read. I loved how I was able to see a sham develop into something beautiful, a friendship where Lanie was able to relax, laugh and confide in someone. I wanted to believe as I was reading this love story, I so want Kyle as he is an amazing man but at times I want to slap him over the head. I wanted to yell at him to wake up and smell the coffee; he was so in love. But then again it never is a straight shot to a happily-ever-after. They have their challenges but Kyle needed to grow up and see that his feelings had developed into more than just friendship.
Lanie Carmichael is a woman that has self-esteem issues that have been brought up by her own family. Kyle Manchester is a man that knows that he's hot and that he can make a woman drop her panties with just a look. Lanie is in love with Kyle's friend, Brad, but she already tried asking him out but he must have took it as an after work drink. Now she had the opportunity to get information from Kyle on what Brad liked. I understood her, and I actually connected with her. She was a twenty-eight-year-old virgin that had never been kissed. She dressed up in so many layers of clothes it was difficult to see her shapely body. I loved her bluntness and her strong character when it came to defending her case; she was a very successful lawyer.
As for Kyle, when he heard what she needed help doing, he thought she was psychotic. Not only was Brad unavailable but he was dating her sister. Kyle was intrigued and, after seeing how Cassie treated Lanie, he knew he needed to help her.
Lanie got a transformation but you will never guess how Kyle did it. I fell in love with Kyle at that point and wanted him for myself. But would her transformation get her what she wanted?
I will get this out now, I totally hate Cassie and her mother, couldn't believe how they treated Lanie. I wanted to slap them both or maybe just beat the crap out of them. Then there is Brad, I could not believe him. That is all I'm going to say about him.
THE DO-OVER was a fun, romantic read that I immensely enjoyed. It was a different storyline and I think that is why I was enthralled with this read. The characters were well-developed and the writing style was superb. I loved how I was able to see Lanie blossom into a beautiful woman, not that she wasn't already. The friendship that developed was wonderful and the bantering between them made it seem so real. The chemistry between them is hot.
I recommend this read to any reader. This has a great happily ever after that blew my mind. I know that I will be looking for more reads by Ms Schiller.
