Wow! I think I just found another paranormal romance series to look forward to. AN ARCHANGEL'S PROMISE has everything I'm looking for--steamy romance, solid storyline, awesome setting, humor, and characters to cheer for.
AN ARCHANGEL'S PROMISE is the first book in Jess Buffett's Sons of the Seven series. The story is about Hunter, the son of Gabriel who is one of the seven archangels. With threats from a group of fallen angels called Renatus, Gabriel abandoned his son in order to keep him safe, promising to see him again when he gets reunited with his bonded.
Hunter's life was dark until he met Gabriella. From best of friends, they became lovers on his 18th birthday, the night before he disappeared. After 10 years Hunter is back, now a full pledged angel, claiming what is rightfully his--Gabriella.
I love the story; I was almost disappointed because this is just a novella. I wish it was longer because I enjoyed reading about the sons of the seven archangels. For a first book in a series, the world building was great. In the story, the sons pose as billionaires while on Earth. I think that was pretty cool as they were using their money and position in their mission. The storyline was solid and exciting. The action scenes were good and some scenes were funny because of the witty exchanges by the characters.
For the romance part, Hunter and Gabriella are one hot couple! The sex scenes are steaming hot so I wouldn't recommend this to readers below 18. As a couple, Hunter and Gabbie are pretty credible and I love it when I can feel the connection between the characters in a book.
All in all, I'm giving the book 4.5 stars. AN ARCHANGEL'S PROMISE is so exciting that I'm looking forward to reading the next book. I wish it's a full length story next time because as much as I love this book, I wanted more of Hunter and Gabriella. I'm recommending this book to paranormal romance readers ages 18 and up.
