On the Road: Sometimes, learning to get past your own problems, means focusing on someone else.
As an orphan, Chip had never really had a home or even much to call his own. After being adopted, he'd hoped he'd found acceptance. Unfortunately, a year later, he shifted into his bobcat for the first time and his new parents had thought him possessed. Forced to run, Chip lived mostly as an animal for decades. Having grown up alone in foster care, it hadn't been much different and he hadn't thought it too bad…until the day he'd been captured and tortured by scientists. Rescued by Kontra and his gang, Chip finally sees the light at the end of the long, lonely tunnel of his life. Scarred, malnourished, and suffering from panic attacks, Chip struggles to get his body and mind back under control. When the gang visits a pride of lion shifters, Chip meets Grimes, who claims they are mates. Can he manage to get past his hang-ups and grab onto the happiness Grimes offers him?

While Charlie Richards' stories are lighter fun reads, there is always a lesson to learn from them. In this story, it's about looking past your own life and its problems to focus on being there for someone else.

Chip is a sad and pathetic little bobcat shifter who you sympathize with and root for. You want to love him and hug him and squeeze him. You want to protect him and make his life all better. Scared and nervous, prone to panic attacks, he's been rescued and is now a part of Alpha Kontra's Menagerie and riding around the country on a bike. He's slowly getting better around others and letting go of his past. Can he let go of his fears enough to see the love and caring Grimes can give him?

Grimes is a lion shifter who wants what the others in his pack have--his mate. But none of the lions in his pack do it for him. When Kontra's pack shows up to bring their doctor to help a pregnant mate, he finally gets a whiff of his mate. With all of Chip's hang-ups, Grimes is going to have to overcome a lot to claim his mate.

Charlie Richards writes a paranormal world that is easy to get lost in. Her characters are always a varied cast with hurts, emotions, vulnerabilities and all of the other things that make them come to life on the page.
