In the old world shadows of Providence, Rhode Island, Nina Grey finds herself the center of a war between Hell and Earth.
Struggling with her father's recent death, Nina meets Jared Ryel by chance…or so she believes. Although his stunning good looks and mysterious talents are a welcome distraction, it soon becomes clear that Jared knows more about Nina than even her friends at Brown University. When questions outnumber answers, Jared risks everything to keep the woman he was born to save—by sharing the secret he was sworn to protect.
When her father's former associates begin following her in the dark, Nina learns that her father is not the man she thought he was, but a thief who stole from demons. Searching for the truth behind her father's death, Nina stumbles upon something she never expected—something Hell wants—and only she holds the key.

PROVIDENCE will appeal to fans of Twilight who have grown a little older and are ready for a slightly more mature, collegiate type young adult Paranormal Romance. While at times the story became a bit bogged down by repetitive details that could have stood a good editing, the love story was beautiful and the action, when it came, was exciting. It was a very enjoyable read. While the love story was between Nina and Jared, Jared's younger sister Claire was fascinatingly ferocious and I am very hopeful she gets her own story in an upcoming sequel.
Nina is a grieving college student whose father has just died. She keeps bumping into the handsome, sexy Jared who is always coming to her aid when she is in trouble. Eventually she figures out there is something more going on here and that is when the real trouble starts.
Mr. Right can actually be Mr. Wrong if by loving you he is putting your life in jeopardy. Jared has no business falling in love with Nina because he has a secret identity as her Guardian Angel. Jared is Nephilim, half angel/half human, and his family has protected Nina's for generations. In fact, his father was Nina's father's protector.
Unfortunately, Nina's dad stole something from the Demons, and they want it back. Nina needs to win Jared's sister Claire over to her side before all Hell breaks loose. Because Claire isn't happy about her brother breaking the rules, and she has a hair trigger finger, Nina is in the unenviable position of having to find what her dad stole and keep it from the evil ones, try to convince the boy she loves that they can be together despite the astronomic odds against them, try to keep her friends from finding out she's in the middle of a war between good and evil and try to stay alive past finals.
