What's Lost in the Dark is the second book of the Dark Paradise series. It continues exactly where Lured In left off—with Abi and Zach getting lost (deep) in each other's love.
In WLD, Abigail and Zach try to maintain a relationship, but their exes and pasts constantly jeopardize the existence of their love. The drama unfolds when Abigail confronts her dark past, which includes Zach's ex-stepfather and her own family.
With the surfacing of their pasts, the family drama, and old flames intertwined in their lives, this saga of the Dark Paradise series has it all: Love. Drama. Excitement. Mmm…hunkalicious Zach. And of course sexplorations with hot, steamy, body-aching, mind-blowing, and blood-boiling sex—that hurts so good.

If you're looking for a novel with lots of blazing hot erotic sex, that's a cross between a soap opera and a reality show a la Housewives, then you'll definitely want to pick up a copy of WHAT'S LOST IN THE DARK.
The novel revolves around Abi, who is one of the owners of GSG, and Zach, who is involved in his family's firm, McConnallay Enterprises. And the cast of characters explodes from the first chapter. When all the family gets together, it makes reading this novel a treat! I lost track of how many stepparents and stepsiblings that Zach and Abi have acquired. And they all attend family gatherings. Amidst all the food, gossiping, bickering, and fist fights, there's a lot of erotic sex going on.
Triangles abound in this fast-paced novel. One triangle that was particularly interesting was between Zach, Abi, and Gabe. Gabe is Abi's ex-fiancé and the father of her daughter, Gabrielle. Gabe has moved on with Abi's former best friend, Karen. Abi meets Gabe for lunch and the temperature rises, even though she's pregnant with Zach's baby. Couple that with someone trying to scare the crap out of Abi, by sending threatening notes and packages, along with pictures of her daughter and Gabe's daughter, Emma. Will Abi and Gabe get back together? Or will Abi stay with Zach? Who's sending the threatening notes to Abi?
While Abi and Zach's daytime and nighttime antics took up the bulk of the novel, I never felt connected to the characters. It took quite a few chapters for me to warm up to Zach as he is portrayed as a controlling, dominant male, with stalkerish tendencies at the beginning of the novel.
Did I mention the blazing hot erotic sex? It's the best part of WHAT'S LOST IN THE DARK. Ms. Avent has an exceptional talent with writing bedroom, office, hospital, and rumpus room sex scenes. Glad I read this novel when it was winter and I could go outside to cool off!
