I have heard of Lisa Kessler before but I haven't read any of her books yet, until this one. And I know this won't be the last book I'll be reading from this author.

BEG ME TO SLAY is a paranormal romance about a demon survivor and a demon slayer. Four years ago, Tegan's world crumbled when she was attacked by a demon. Fighting depression and possible insanity, Tegan studied self-defense and martial arts, vowing not to become a victim again. Just when everything's going back to normal, her assailant returns, bringing back with him memories of terror and fear.

Determined to fight for herself this time, Tegan finds help in Gabe, a PI who's actually a demon slayer. Together, they work to find her demon while keeping each other alive. But can they keep their feelings and attraction at bay and their relationship to 'strictly professional'?

BEG ME TO SLAY has most of the things I love in a paranormal romance: a kick-ass heroine, a gorgeous and mysterious hero, a good story, some cool action scenes, and steamy romance. Definitely a must-read if you're into this genre.

When it's my first time to read a book from any author, I usually keep my expectations on mid-level. I don't like being disappointed, and at the same time, I expect something worth reading. BEG ME TO SLAY went way a lot higher than what I expected. This isn't just a 'nice book to read'. It was awesome and highly entertaining.

I love the book's heroine, Tegan. I've always been a sucker for a strong-willed heroine who knows how to defend herself and Tegan is a perfect example of the type. I had a hard time connecting with Gabe during the first chapters, though. He was a bit bland and lacked the intensity that usual paranormal romance heroes have. But by mid-chapters, I finally warmed to his character and adored him 'til the end.

Story-wise, BEG ME TO SLAY was better than good. Lisa Kessler is a really good writer that even though I've already read similar plots before, the book was still very entertaining. I was just hoping for a little more variety since book plots from this genre are a bit alike in one way or another.

I'm giving this book 4.5 stars. Like I said before, BEG ME TO SLAY is an awesome read. I noticed this is a stand-alone and it's not included in a series. I hope the author will consider turning this into a series because I want to read more about Gabe and Tegan.

I also want to recommend this book to readers who want to try paranormal romance but is not inclined to start reading a series yet (most paranormal romance books are in a series). BEG ME TO SLAY is definitely worth your time and money.
