More Than the Chili's Heating Up Cadillac, Texas
Carlene Lovelle, co-owner of Bless My Bloomers lingerie shop, found a pair of fancy red-silk panties in her husband's briefcase, and all hell is breaking loose. She custom-made those fancy bloomers herself—and she remembers the bimbo who bought them. If her husband had a lick of sense, he'd known there are no secrets in a town like Cadillac.
Carlene's cohorts—and their mamas—plan to exact revenge on Lenny Joe where it'll hurt the most: break his ten-year winning streak at the prestigious Red-Hot Chili Cook-Off. Never before has a woman dared to compete. But the ladies of Bless My Bloomers are cooking up a storm...and it seems the whole town is taking sides in the showdown.
Welcome to Cadillac, Texas, where the chili is hot, the gossip is hotter, and friends stick by each other, no matter what the challenge.

THE RED-HOT CHILI COOK-OFF is the newest book from the amazing Carolyn Brown. It was a laugh a minute as all hell broke loose when the Queens of Cadillac Texas go on the warpath. Carolyn Brown never disappoints. She knows how to show her readers a rollicking good time with her wonderful down home humor, colorful characters and great stories. It's a book about friendship, cat fights and it's full of humorous calamities. It's a book that hooked me from the first page and had me giggling out loud until the end. I'm sure everyone else is bound to love it every bit as much as I did.
The story begins with Texas Belle Carlene Lovelle, catching her no-good, lying, cheating man red handed. Carrying some bimbo's itty bitty red bloomers around in his briefcase. Now, hell hath no fury like a woman wronged. Or her spitting mad as hell kin either. This was one funny story as mamas, cousins and in-laws joined in the melee. The RED-HOT BLOOMERS crew decided to take away the unrepentant cheater's prize crown.
The story was fast paced once everybody got in on the fun. It was shenanigans and calamities one right after the other. The story had not even one dull moment, no loose ends and everybody got what was coming to them without even one shot being fired. There were lots of insults, plenty of stunts and a few hilarious cat-fights though. This is one book that should be on every TBR list.
As usual, the characters were wonderful. They had their share of problems. They got through them in a good way. They made me laugh! The story gave me a warm feeling. Yes. I wanted to smack some of them too. So what does that say? It's a book that I got into easily. It's a book that I loved. The writing was excellent, and the dialogue was fantastic. THE RED-HOT CHILI COOK-OFF is a great read for any reader.
I am a big fan of Carolyn Brown. I make no secret of that fact. But this book truly does shine on its own. I loved it and highly recommend it to everyone.
