He rules in the ring
Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.
A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help...
But can he rule her heart?
Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control, or if she's finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

Fans of Sarah Castille's darkly erotic, emotionally gripping debut series will be pleased to know that the men of Redemption are back, and just as tough and strong as you remembered. New readers will have no problem falling for this series, as well, and would do well to jump on this bandwagon as soon as possible.
Two years ago, crack lawyer Amanda and underground MMA fighter Jake were caught up in a scorching fling that neither expected. But when Jake asked Amanda for more--for her heart as well as her body--she refused, declaring adamantly that she was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But their split broke Amanda's heart, and though she's throwing herself into her work at San Francisco's most prestigious legal firm, she's never forgotten Jake. Nevertheless, when she walks into a conference room to meet her newest client, the very last person Amanda dreamed she'd see is Jake. But his entrance in her life tips off a series of events that end with Amanda unemployed and forced to rebuild her life and career.
Jake has no doubt that losing Amanda was the worst failure of his life. But this time around, he's determined to make it right, and win her over--body, heart, and soul. But from her first steps back into Jake's world at Redemption, Amanda realizes that Jake is different. Darker. And utterly determined to get what he wants. But the real question is whether she has changed, too. Can she trust Jake with everything? And will he want her when she reveals every painful secret?
I had a lot of problems with Amanda when she was first introduced in this series' debut. As a secondary character, she came across as a very superficial individual who didn't fully understand the pain she was causing others with her behavior. But one of the things that Sarah Castille does best, in both books to date, is to prove that what lies beneath a character's façade is often vastly different, and far more engaging, than what lies on the surface. As a result, the Amanda that appears here is a strong, resourceful, and deeply emotional person, with a number of scars and issues. In consequence, I grew to truly appreciate her journey, and the fears that drove her throughout most of this plot
My only real critique of this book was Jake's early treatment of Amanda. As a reader, his behavior made sense, but when looked at through Amanda's eyes, his reactions felt a lot like emotional manipulation, and, though I was sympathetic to both their struggles, this did make me a bit uncomfortable. Nevertheless, Jake's subsequent reactions to Amanda's secrets and her needs went a long way to redeeming him in my eyes. He truly does come to accept Amanda as a whole person, with flaws and fears and a history that doesn't necessarily involve him, which isn't an easy thing at all for a hero to do.
Fans of this series will easily remember the chemistry that Jake and Amanda shared, and things only get hotter when these two reunite. The clash of their very strong, very willful personalities makes some sensational sparks, but their growing respect for each other, and total support of the other's dreams, make this relationship something truly special.
I also appreciated the fact that this book delves into some of the truly painful, and widespread realities of the world--Amanda's position at work, her relationship with her father, and her own self-image. All reflect some very realistic issues that, though often very painful to read, grounds this book in reality. The rest of the story, happily, is full of the delicious details that make this series so addictive--the utterly loveable alphas who make up Redemption, the honor that exists among them, and the chance for recovery and liberation that the gym offers. There are some thought-provoking hints, as well, about future books in the series that I, for one, will be very interested to see how they develop.
Sometimes, what makes romances such a success is their willingness to confront reality and embrace fairytales, and Sarah Castille is a master of these kinds of romantic fantasies. Her hero is at once gentle, insightful, and at the same time a thoroughly dominant alpha who can fulfill his heroine's every desire, both physical and emotional. Because of their growing bond, the courage and self-assurance they develop, all other aspects of their life begin to prosper, as well. The result is a story that is fulfilling on a number of levels and offers an emotional, but ultimately rewarding journey for both of the main characters. This is quite a fitting follow up to this gritty, sizzling series, and I have no doubt that Sarah Castille is only going to keep giving readers precisely what they crave as this series continues to unfold. I, for one, can't wait for book three!

There are several things that stood out in this story, and one of them was what Makayla said towards the end of this story--don't let your past define you. That is something that Amanda needs to do in order for her to have her happily ever after, just like her best friend.
I was so excited when I found out the next book in the Redemption series was going to be about Amanda and Jake. The relationship that they had in Torment and Makayla's book was hot. But--Oh My God, it was hotter in their book. This was such an emotional read for me that at 11% into the book, my tears were already falling. Both Amanda and Jake were hardheaded but they were so similar. They both want each other but Jake wants Amanda to need him and Amanda is too independent to ask for any kind of help. I love that this love story took the slower route and that Jake wanted to take it slow, unlike Amanda, who was ready to tear his clothes off. Even though Amanda and Jake had a tough time coming together, they were able to overcome their differences and love each other. They were totally addicted to each other.
Amanda Westwood is a strong, independent, beautiful young woman who wanted to make her parents happy. She thought she wanted to follow in their footsteps. It had been two years since her somewhat relationship ended, with Jake continuing to haunt her dreams. Now she had the opportunity to become partner at the firm that she works at and the case that she is about to take may depend on it, or that's what she thinks.
Jake Donovan has not been himself since he and Amanda separated. So much has gone on in his life--his brother passed away, he's running his dad's business--but the worst part is that he has not stepped foot in Redemption nor did he fight. When a legal matter needs to be taken care of, Jake never thought that the legal advice he sought was going to bring him face to face with the woman he had once let go, the only woman that he loved.
The chemistry between Amanda and Jake sizzles from the moment their eyes meet but it seems to Amanda that Jake was unmoved. Amanda is a mess but deep down, Jake was also hurting. I love Jake's dominant side. He is ready to put Amanda over his knee and give her a couple of spankings because she put her life in danger. Only, Amanda is an independent woman who is not going to stand for the scolding, but when those spankings become erotic, she can't help wanting more.
IN YOUR CORNER is an exceptional read that enthralled me from beginning to end. I love that this book can be read as a standalone, but it's best if you read Against the Ropes first. You are able to get a sneak peek into Jake and Amanda's relationship and how Amanda drove Jake away. She tried to talk to him but he won't listen to her. Ms. Castille's writing is flawless and the story was passionate and extremely beautiful. I love it when I'm able to get lost in a story and in the author's words. I felt every single emotion that both Amanda and Jake experienced, every single caress, every single kiss, every single time that Jake went all He-man. The chemistry between Amanda and Jake is so intense, beautiful and passionate. The sex scenes were erotic, sensually beautiful. They were tastefully written. The characters were well developed and the pace was perfect.
I know that I just finished reading this amazing story but now I'm wondering whose book will be coming up next. There were a couple of characters that piqued my interest--there is Ray, Fuzzy, Shilla, and how can I forget Penny. I totally need to find out what happened to Penny back in England and why she came to the United States but most of all what happened with that asshat of a singer. I know that Drake "Doctor Death" deserves a happily ever after but after how he taunted Jake, maybe just not right now.
This story was intense, passionate, sexy, and emotional. IN YOUR CORNER will be staying in my library to be reread again and again. I do have to say one last thing--I love Jake. I love everything about him and how possessive he was of Amanda but Torment will always be number one in my book.
