Daycare owner, Miranda O'Neill, isn't looking for a miracle. But that's what it'll take to convince Cole Matheson the American Dream isn't a trap designed to suck the life out of him. She wants a house with a white picket fence. He wants adventure. She yearns for babies of her own. He's perfectly content claiming his aging hound as his only dependent. The one thing they agree on--they can't keep their hands off each other.

Six months ago, they'd admitted love wasn't enough and parted ways. But when Cole finds himself in charge of his nephew for the ten longest days of his life, only one person can save him.

Will Miranda put aside her heartache to jump into the fray? Can Cole find any redeeming qualities in a demon in a diaper? Either way, both know they're just asking for trouble.

They'd once had a good thing going until they both realized they didn't want the same things out of life. A red-haired demon child and a big dose of reality is about to change that.

Cole Matheson was a law unto himself and kids absolutely never figured into his future. Finding himself saddled with his crawling rug rat nephew for ten days while his brother and sister-in-law finally went on their belated honeymoon was an eye-opening and hair-raising experience for a man who avoided responsibility at any cost. When he couldn't calm little Jackson's cries and desperation set in, Cole called the only person he knew who could deal with the crisis, and that just happened to be the woman his heart had never gotten over.

The last person daycare owner Miranda O'Neill ever thought she'd hear from again was Cole Matheson. She'd ended their relationship because it was pointless to continue when she wanted marriage and children, and self-centered Cole refused to give up his independence in exchange for responsibilities he simply didn't want. Knowing she couldn't say no to Cole's request for her help, and that she'd have to guard her fragile heart from the man who still owned it, Miranda found herself going to Cole and little Jackson's rescue again and again. But seeing Cole temporarily bearing up to adult responsibilities and bonding with his nephew wouldn't really change their relationship status when, despite their love for one another, neither Cole nor Miranda was willing to compromise in order to have a future with each other.

If you're looking for a cute, heartwarming novella that features a set-in-his-ways, slightly ornery hero with sex appeal and quite a few endearing qualities who pits himself against his heart's desire, which just happens to be a caring, compassionate flame-haired beauty who refuses to always let him have things his way, you're sure to relish ASKING FOR TROUBLE.

Author Jannine Gallant has created just the right mix of chemistry, romantic pining, humor, and babysitting mishaps to keep readers glued to the pages of this delightful second chance romance. Plus, Ms. Gallant's mien for concocting slightly quirky small town drama is sure to make this visit to the town Redemption, Texas well worth the trip down the path to love.
