And that's not all that heats up...

I loved this book so much! VAMPIRE TROUBLE is the second book in the Dead in the City series by the amazing Sara Humpreys. It's an awesome sequel to Tall, Dark and Vampire, the first book in the series. Now I loved the first book, but I really connected with this one more. This one hooked me right away with a story that swept me into a world of drama, intrigue, passion and romance. It didn't let go and I didn't want it to, either. I enjoyed every page.
Shane was the ultimate Alpha vampire. I loved the heck outta him in this book! He wants to keep Maya safe but she's not having any of that. She is rebellious and keeps getting into more and more trouble. Big trouble that threatens to escalate into a war with the werewolves and puts Maya in grave danger. She's got some serious issues that are driving her reckless actions. Her past that is shrouded in mystery could be the key to preventing the war and saving her life. That is, if Shane can save her from herself in time....
So there you have it. That's what this book is about. It's a great story! Ms. Humphreys did an outstanding job on the world building in this series. She has created a setting where the mythology is both captivating and intriguing. The dialogue is totally believable and flows smoothly, allowing the reader to really enjoy the story. The plot was strong enough to pull this reader in completely. It was engaging and full of twists, with a mystery that kept me guessing about what was going to happen.
These characters were strong and superbly developed. They all had a story to tell. In this story, it was Maya who got her redemption and found out who she really was. She was stronger than she believed. She just had to find her strength. Shane helped her with that while he was keeping her safe and falling fang over heels in love. Their relationship was full of drama, heartache and passion. Maya had a past that was heartbreaking. I think it's safe to say that the troublemaker did a lot of growing up in this book. I liked the person she eventually became.
I have to say that this series is wildly addictive, and this book is totally awesome. It's a five star book that you do not want to miss. I can't wait for more.
