Romantic suspense with former Navy SEAL and marines is one to pick up. If you enjoy Maya Banks' KGI Series, this book is for you.

Kacey O'Donnell is a retired marine pilot. She's returned to an empty home. As she continues to try to adjust to civilian life, she's called in by a family friend to help in a kidnapping extraction. She must turn to a former lover for help. Nothing about the situation is easy.

What I liked most about this books is how Ms. Roslyn shows great respect for our armed forces. The realities of PTSD is sad because these are tough warriors who are taught to show no weakness. Whilst their body may endure extreme hardship, the mind hits a point where it will break. Without support, healing is difficult. Ms. Roslyn shows the impacts of PTSD on family, friends and the person silently suffering from it.

The characters in this book are fabulous. The character interactions in this story is great because they play off each other so well. Even the secondary characters are unique and memorable. The descriptions of locations and how each character respond are done so well they play like a movie in the reader's mind. The story is action packed with fighting and loving.

Kacey is an anomaly. She is a rich only child yet she is not spoiled. In fact, she's raised the way people of power with ethics should be raised. She understands responsibility and she doesn't believe she's above the law. Her commitment to save others is commendable. She's the type of person who inspires others to be a better person. Even the strongest person need someone to lean on. Kacey's family support is gone with the last of her relatives dying. Kacey is just trying to make it through the day by going through the motions. When Nathan, her former lover, slides into town, it wakes her back up.

Nathan is a fixer. He wants to make things better. He also wants to know why his hot love affair with Kacey vaporized before he could take it to the next level. The Kacey he finds in the quiet town is far different than the one who left him behind. Nathan is determined to figure out why and win Kacey back into his life.

The plot of this story is rather simple. The reader easily guesses within the first couple of chapters what is going on with the kidnapping. In addition, figuring out the villain and why they have the daughter of a U.S. Senator kidnapped is easy. What makes this story so good is the bonding between Kacey and Nathan. The bonds of friendship between Kacey and the former SEAL team members Nathan brings together also adds a lovely layer. The eleven-going-to-twelve year old girl almost steals the show. She's a spunky girl who is mature for her age.

The dialogue in this story is pleasurable to read. Ms. Roslyn does an excellent job of balancing between moving scenes, serious discussion and snarky humour. There are many times where I burst out laughing after a serious scene. The timing is just right. What is also nice is the fact that none of these characters are perfect. They show their flaws to each other and it's okay. They are accepted for who they are, even when they are not at their best. This is a touching story made stronger through love. Recommended for romantic suspense readers who love their dinged-up heroines finding their happily ever after.
