Lainie is a thirty year old, full-figured woman entrenched in a love affair with a married man. Although Lainie loves Mason desperately, she vows never to say those three little words while he remains with his wife.

Stay, an enigma in Lainie's close-knit group of friends, has been circling her with interest, trying to garner her attention. When circumstances make it clear who's blocking his way—Mason—Stay goes full-court press in pursuit of Lainie.

Lainie doesn't see Stay as relationship potential because she is blinded by her love for Mason. However, the more she learns about Stay, the more she comes to realize she never really knew him in the first place.

An unexplainable mystical connection evolves between Lainie and Stay and she has to choose between a man she so hopelessly loves and a man who offers her everything she needs

The Florida crew is back in BITTERSWEET DECEIT, and Lainie, Mason and Stayman don't disappoint! Expect to have some serious bipolar reactions (and some insanely lusty ones) to the crazy characters in this book.

Lainie Simmons is in love with a married man. Despite his declarations of love and adoration, her relationship with Mason is taking a major toll on her. Lainie wonders when she became THAT woman...the one who depends on a man for her happiness and who alters every aspect of her life to be with him when he calls. While her group of friends are always there for her, one of them suddenly starts making an extra effort.

Stayman Stills, or "Stay" as he's known, makes it clear to Lainie that he plans on pursuing her, regardless of her current situation with Mason. Lainie is 100% honest with Stay, but he persists relentlessly, throwing a major wedge into her relationship with Mason.

Something about Stay soothes Lainie's frazzled nerves, and though her body reacts when he's around, she can't stop pining away for Mason. She's destroying herself, making herself sick, lying, worrying her friends, sneaking around...she doesn't even recognize herself unless Stay is there to calm her with his Zen-like presence and all encompassing personality. She'll have to make some major life-altering choices about the two men in her life, but it won't be without heartbreak for everyone involved.

BITTERSWEET DECEIT is the second book in the Bound By Your Love series staring a group of 30-something friends and their messed up love lives. It packs an erotic and emotional punch for sure, just like the first book in the series did. I was completely conflicted about Mason. On one hand, I LOATHE cheating in books, on the other hand I kind of understood their strange devotion to one another. At first, Stay seemed like he was going to be too mild-mannered for Lainie, but he wound up being exactly what she needed in her life, a calming presence with an insatiable sexual appetite and enough kinks that complemented her perfectly.

Now Lainie. She's one I just don't know about. Part of me felt for her, the waiting, the pining away, the horrid decisions, but she was just so frustrating that I wanted to shake her and scream WAKE THE HELL UP, WOMAN! When she's journaling, some of the things she wrote were more teenager than adult, making me cringe once in awhile. Her whiny nature and constant pity parties grated on my nerves, and I did think that the back and forth could've been decreased by several instances without losing any emotional impact of the storyline. It felt a bit "Groundhog Day"esque for my tastes.

The other thing that REALLY bothered me in BITTERSWEET DECEIT was the incredible amount of editing errors. It was highly distracting, and while it didn't detract from the EPICNESS of the final 1/4 of the book, it did have me initially reducing the rating to a 3 star. That said, the holy shit amazeballz of that last quarter did bump the rating up a notch! Soooo many things I'd like to say about the latter part of BITTERSWEET DECEIT, but talking about it would only ruin the good parts for you, so I'll just say that I finally came to respect Lainie and felt that she really grew into herself, her body, her personality and her emotions. She went from a hot mess to a sexy woman whose boyfriend made her a different, MUCH sexier hot mess. Bravo Ms. Bennett! I'm desperate for Blue's story, coming up next!!
