Book 9 of Masters of the Shadowlands
BDSM, Erotic Romance

After his last lover chose her career over him, Jake knows he wants a woman who will put him at the top of her priorities—as he would with her. One of the trainees, Rainie, has caught his attention. Lush body, a gift for living life to the fullest, always laughing or smiling. Yeah. She trips all his switches. But she's never given him a second look and that's damned annoying.

Rainie has been burned enough times that she's not going to get serious about any man. Sure, the BDSM club trainees are supposed to be looking for a permanent Dom, but no harm, no foul—they don't need to know she lied. Trainees get to be involved in everything—and with everyone. But there's one she avoids. Master Jake is always frowning at her. No matter how gorgeous he is, she doesn't need any disapproving Dom up in her business.

Unfortunately, her best friends are having a double wedding. Little hearts are floating in the air. Every breath is filled with romance. Rainie is doomed.

This is my first book by Ms. Sinclair but it definitely won't be my last. I loved every second I spent with the sexy men and women from the Shadowlands, and I can't wait for more!

Rainie Kuras is stuck, her big plans to get out of St. Petersburg, FL on hold while she replenishes her savings. Having grown up in the slums, tossed around foster homes and living with drug dealers, the curvy woman knows if she ever truly wants to start over, she's got to go where nobody knows her past. Rainie spends her free time as a submissive at the Shadowlands, a popular local BDSM club. She's been obsessed with the sexy veterinarian and Dom, Dr. Jake Sheffield, since she laid eyes on him years ago, but everything about him reminds her of what she'll never have.

Jake's had his eye on Rainie since she joined the Shadowlands, but she never gives him a second look and seems impervious to his charm. But one fateful night, a rainstorm and an injured dog brings Rainie into Jake's vet clinic and the two forge a tenuous bond that grows stronger as the weeks go by. Now inseparable, Rainie struggles to remember why she needed to leave St. Pete, but several people from her and Jake's past won't let her forget. Rainie will only hurt Jake's reputation in the long run, just as he'll inevitably hurt her when he finds out her whole past and leaves. She's got to focus on relocating before she gets too far sucked into Jake's rabbit hole of love, trust and submission.

So hopefully I'll get this right, as it was slightly confusing to figure out how SHOW ME, BABY fit into 2 different series. This book is the 9th novella in the Masters of the Shadowlands series by the talented Ms. Sinclair and also a stand-alone addition to the 1001 Dark Nights series featuring magical and mystical erotic stories by a variety of popular authors inspired by the classic The Arabian Nights. Having never read any books in either of those series, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I adored every character that the author developed as well as the sexy and powerful story itself. I'm not sure how this 200 page book is considered a novella because it was thorough and well developed and fully functioning as a stand-alone story.

Jake was simply fabulous, such a contrast of caring vet and stern Dom, of playful lover and controlled, self-ruling Master. His inability to allow anyone to see any sort of weakness wreaked havoc on his relationships, yet he remained convinced that showing any chinks in his armor made him less of a man. His desire for Rainie was palpable, and who wouldn't be attracted to a fiercely protective and loving woman? Though she's sometimes self-conscious about her Botticelli body, it's really her past that makes her feel inadequate. But her smile made everyone's day brighter and her exuberant personality made Jake's world complete.

The sex between the two of them was crazy hot, and I adored the light BDSM elements of this book. There's not anything too hardcore in SHOW ME, BABY, so those who enjoy some light bondage, toys, spanking and orgasm denial will go nuts over this story. I really am looking forward to learning more about many of the other characters that Ms. Sinclair developed in previous installments of this series! Great job!
