SUMMARY
Wealthy, attractive Lucas Reika treats life like a party, moving from bar to bar and man to man. Thumbing his nose at his restaurateur father's demand that he earn his keep, Lucas instead seduces a valued employee in the kitchen of their flagship restaurant, earning himself an ultimatum: lose access to his father's money or stay in the middle of nowhere with a man he has secretly lusted over from afar.

Quiet, hard-working Jared McFarland loves his farm on the outskirts of Hope, Arizona, but he aches to have someone to come home to at the end of the day. Jared agrees to take in his longtime crush as a favor. But when Lucas invades his heart in addition to his space, Jared has to decide how much of himself he's willing to risk and figure out if he can offer Lucas enough to keep him after his father's punishment is over.

I was really excited to start this book. I have read and enjoyed some of Cardeno C's paranormal series so I was intrigued to try something different and I was not disappointed.

Jared McFarland gets a call late one evening from his ex-wife, where she informs him that her father is sending her half-brother to Jared for a couple months. It seems Lucas Reika has gotten into some trouble and his father is forcing him to grow up. It is about time too, but Jared doesn't understand how he is going to cope with being that close to Lucas and not act on his feelings. Lucas comes off as a completely spoiled brat, but we soon find out there is a reason behind his selfish indifference.

When I first started reading, I was not a fan of Lucas at all. He was overly rude and definitely came across as a spoiled brat. However he does grow on you and definitely develops as a character and became my favorite. Jared on the other hand was a lonely man and I felt for him right away. These two guys coming together was just so right. They truly are each other's other half.

The story was short and sweet and hit all my selling points. By the end I loved the characters (especially together) and the town is certainly one I cannot wait to revisit! I was not ready for the story to end when it did, I was so wrapped up in the characters I wanted to keep reading. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a short and sweet romance.
