SUMMARY
Note: This is a previously published work.

Dealing with the Rogue Werewolves terrorizing his Pack? Simple.
Trying to convince his mate he does want to be with her? Bloody impossible.

Owen MacLaren is the Alpha's son and the Pack's second, and he has never been one to let anything get to him. So when a bunch of Rogues begin purposely dumping mutilated bodies around the Pack Keep, he is more than ready to deal with the Werewolves responsible.

But one night off and a trip to a local strip joint for a colleague's stag night changes things, and Owen soon discovers he isn't immune to everything . . . .

Being an independent Loup and travelling the world? Easy.
Having to come home and face the Werewolf who broke her young heart? Challenging.

After five years away, Clare Walker finds herself back home in Scotland, working in a strip club. The tips are decent, and she gets to dance, but it isn't a place she thought she would ever be, let alone Owen, her Pack second and the mate she has always desired.

Although Owen is determined to prove he wants to be with Clare, things can't go smoothly between them, not when they have past issues to sort out and a bunch of unusual 'Rogues' to deal with.

This title contains explicit language, violence, and graphic sex.

Remember that hot older guy you wanted to be your forever but who thought of you as just a kid? Clare knew Owen was the one for her and her wolf but he pushed her away. It hurt so much that she didn't come back for five years and even then tried to keep her distance. Now, he walks back into her life and wants her to take a chance again on love. Does she risk it all for the chance at the love she always wanted?

Clare is working at a strip club when she runs into Owen after all those years away at school taking dance classes. She needs money and felt like the club paid the best but does not enjoy being around the men and their sexual desires. While she cannot totally shift into a wolf as a female, she does have heightened abilities that the male wolves also experience. She can smell their desire for her. Clare believes in being independent but knows she has obligations to her alpha and the rest of the pack when she returns to their territory. She loved Owen and knew as a teenager that her wolf was his mate but he denied those feelings and made her regret her actions. She wants to escape from those feelings and not open herself up to all that pain again. Clare also wants to have the chance at a career and being tied to Owen will prevent that from happening.

Owen is the son of the Alpha and serves as the second for the pack. He takes his responsibilities to the clan seriously and also works as a physical education teacher in the human world. His pack is dealing with some outsiders making kills in their territory. He is encouraged by his father to go out for some fun with his friends from work and it is on that stag night that he runs into Clare at the club. He is in his thirties and enjoys women but has never found his mate so he hasn't stayed around long with any of them. He knows that, unlike humans, he will know when he finds the right one and his nose identifies Clare. It is a huge surprise to him that the young girl he turned down is now all woman and belongs to him as his mate. He just has to convince Clare that he will be devoted to her and only her and keep the pack safe at the same time.

The author describes the book as an erotic, paranormal romance. It is a prequel to her book Cranberry Blood which begins a new dark urban fantasy series. All of these books will work together to tell the full story. Many times prequels don't do well as stand alone stories but I found that to not be the case in terms of SHE-WOLF. It felt like a complete story and made me very interested in wanting to read Cranberry Blood and the other books to come. The characters are interesting and developed and she has built her own kind of a world with werewolves, vamps, psychics and other supernaturals.

Clare and Owen work well as a couple. They are both dominants and pretty independent. They wouldn't have respect for a mate if they were not equally as confident and strong. Clare has legitimate concerns about having a future with Owen and they do not feel like contrived methods to keep the characters apart. Their chemistry is there immediately and you know it is just a matter of time before they give in to all those feelings. The relationship doesn't feel rushed and instead feels very real. I smiled as I read much of the dialogue between them.

SHE-WOLF is a prequel to a new dark urban fantasy series. It focuses on a werewolf clan in Ireland dealing with rogues who are leaving dead bodies in their territory. Owen is the second in the pack and dealing with that challenge when he identifies his mate. Clare had grown up in the clan but left after he pushed her away. She is not that interested in giving up her dreams for the promise of love with Owen. He has to work hard to convince her that he is a man of his word.

The characters work well together and the dialogue is sexy and fun. I am very much looking forward to reading the other books in the series and learning more about this new fantasy world. This is a great read for those who love paranormal romances that deliver the heat along with a strong storyline and developed characters.
