If you're in the mood for a lighthearted read with a healthy dose of fun, look no further than THE WEDDING HOAX.
Cole Benton is desperate to make his bridal magazine, Exclusively Yours, a success so his father will put him in charge of the magazine he really wants, Prime Outdoors. Numbers are down and Cole's got to make a big move if he's going to succeed, so when he's approached by bridal show tycoon Mason Bridgewater about an influx of cash, he's ready to listen. But Cole isn't prepared for Mason's promo idea--pretend to marry his former girlfriend, wedding designer Daisy Willows. Cole and Daisy were media darlings when they were together, and Mason is certain that their engagement will help the entire wedding industry.
Daisy's heart was broken when Cole declared that he wasn't interested in being Mr. Right...only Mr. Right Now, so she's understandably wary about spending so much time with the man again. But neither of them can afford to deny the influx of cash that Mason is offering, and they soon find themselves falling into bed once again, muddling the waters of their faux relationship. As intense feelings start resurfacing between the two of them, will they be able to make a real go of it this time around?
THE WEDDING HOAX by Ms. Thurmeier was the perfect read after a super emotional charged book had me on edge. Light, frothy and full of humor, THE WEDDING HOAX wasn't terribly unique but it was fun and lighthearted and easygoing. Even though the story has been done, Ms. Thurmeier didn't make it seem like it was a cookie cutter repeat.
I really didn't care much for Cole's character and had a tough time connecting with him in the beginning. He was just such an emotionally bankrupt MC who was only after a physical release instead of a long term relationship, which he makes no apologies for. Between his douchey brother Troy and asshat father, who made sure to let Cole know frequently that it was impossible to have a family AND a career, his attitude wasn't entirely surprising.
Daisy was the dreamer, the one who wanted the white picket fence and the golden retriever and the 2.5 kids. I liked that she left his ass after realizing that he wasn't going to EVER give her those things, but I hated that she kind of fell right into his bed once they started spending time together again. She came off as slightly whiny and needy, but their sex scenes were terrifically hot and their chemistry was well written.
Overall, THE WEDDING HOAX was an enjoyable way to spend a Fall evening.
