Contemporary Romance, Western Romance
Fourteen years after her abrupt departure, Samara Davis is back in Marietta, Montana. Now a widow, all she wants is to give her anxious four-year old daughter, Jade, a happy, stable home. Unfortunately, the heritage house she purchased is nowhere near ready for occupancy. And the man responsible for the delay is none other than high-school golden boy and love of her life Logan Stafford, available, interested and just as swoon-worthy as ever.
But this single mother has one priority. She's all Jade has, and she'll do anything, make any sacrifice, for her child's future. And getting distracted by a long-lost boyfriend is not on the agenda.
Logan Stafford never forgot the lonely girl from the wrong side of the tracks who broke his heart. Not only is she as irresistible as ever, but her delightfully odd little girl has him wrapped around her finger in no time. Believing they've been given a second chance, Logan's determined to pull out all the stops on the house to prove to them both that he's a guy they can count on. But, despite how easy it is to love Logan, a second chance is still a gamble Samara can't afford to take.

She and her daughter were misfits looking for a place to belong and put down roots. He was the all around good guy who'd once made her feel cherished. Now, he just might be a dream come true if she can only let him in.
Widowed young and with a special needs child, life had dealt Samara Davis one too many blows. Her hopes to raise her autistic daughter Jade in a tight-knit community lead her back to Marietta, Montana, a place she'd long ago hated to leave behind. Closing on a rehabbed older home would provide a sense of security her life was sadly lacking, but Samara never counted on the house not being ready or that the man in charge of getting the old fixer in move-in condition was none other than her first love Logan Stafford. And it doesn't take long to realize the old chemistry she and Logan never acted on as teens is still as rampant as ever, but Samara hasn't been the girl she was way back then for a very long time.
Logan Stafford never forgot the girl who left town years ago and never said goodbye. They'd once shared a closeness he'd never duplicated with anyone else, but Samara's current need to be strong and provide a loving, stable, and structured environment for her young daughter Jade have left the once quiet girl from the wrong side of the tracks feeling she can't count on anyone but herself. But as Logan oversees the rehab of Samara's old fixer, he also works to rebuild the old bond he and Samara once shared. But if Samara won't accept that he and the residents of Marietta are available for her and Jade to lean on, can he have any hope at all of regaining her heart?
With her wonderful ability to create characters you care about and weave a true sense of community in the fabric of her stories, the very talented Roxanne Snopek adds her voice to the Montana Born series of tales set in Marietta, Montana, and Ms. Snopek doesn't disappoint. She handles the subject of autism with the compassion it deserves and she nicely balances it with a moving love story that overcomes adversity and unfolds to a feel good, sigh-worthy conclusion.
I highly recommend this charming novella for quality escapism and a hero you'll want for your own.
