Book 2 of Wicked Play
BDSM, Erotic Romance

When Kendra Morgan attends a party at an exclusive sex club, she's not driven by mere curiosity. Hoping to prove she's put the past behind her, Kendra must instead face up to needs she's denied for too long. Despite her lingering fears, she can't resist the temptation to play…

Deklan Winters has had his eye on his attractive neighbor for months, but only senses Kendra is no stranger to the BDSM scene when she walks into his club. And he can tell that's not her only secret. What surprises him is his own overwhelming desire to give her what she craves—and to show her a side to the Dom/sub relationship she's never known.

With Deklan's guidance, Kendra begins to accept her forbidden needs and to recognize the fine line between pleasure and pain. But when her former Master returns to reclaim her, it will take all her courage—and all of Deklan's love—to defy her past.

You've gotta love a man who knows his way around sex toys and bondage, but who also has a heart of solid gold.

Kendra Morgan knows that she's being watched. And she knows it's neighbor Deklan Winters, part owner of exclusive BDSM club The Den, who's doing the watching. Kendra has been denying the part of herself that needs pain to reach her pleasure after her last relationship ended in an abusive relationship rather than a safe, sane and consensual power exchange, and Dek is determined to be the man to help heal her.

Even though she fights him, Kendra finds herself needing Dek and the comfort, pleasure and pain he's able to provide. Though she keeps her distance emotionally and sexually, she finds herself gravitating toward Dek's soothing and caring nature. Dek wants nothing more than to make Kendra whole again...except maybe to murder the bastard who scarred such a beautiful woman. But Dek knows he can't save everyone no matter how hard he tries--his years in the Army taught him that. Will Kendra turn out to be another face in the crowd of those he's failed or his salvation?

BONDS OF NEED is the second book in the Wicked Play series featuring a set of friends who own or play at The Den, an exclusive BDSM club. We find out pretty quickly that Kendra's past was absolutely horrific thanks to a sadist ex and her own masochistic desires. She is completely ashamed that she needs pain to find release and the panic attacks that her Scenes with Dek sometimes bring her. Added into this storyline is the abusive ex-boyfriend who took her needs and turned them against her in the worst possible ways. He's destroyed her trust, her self-esteem, her desires and her body and made her feel worthless and disgusting.

Her relationship with Dek was interesting. He's got a huge air of authority, as all Doms should, combined with a protective streak that his years in the military honed. I saw him as that little boy who tries to save every wounded animal he comes across, only to be disappointed when their injuries take them anyway. I get that Dek wanted to help Kendra heal, but I didn't feel like they had that super connection that makes an OK couple a fabulous one. There was more extreme BDSM elements in BONDS OF NEED, yet very little actual sex, which was disappointing. I didn't really feel 100% into this story until there was a bit of danger presented into the storyline, but that was resolved fairly swiftly. Not my favorite in the series but a good addition nonetheless.
