A DAY AT A TIME is a journey of pain and recovery, both physical and emotional, to finding true love.

Dave Simpson has had a crush on his co-worker Sean Vargos for some time but isn't sure how to approach him. Sean's lack of social interaction and his strict focus on his work makes Dave feel he is a bit unapproachable. When Dave finally works up the courage to ask Sean out, he is happy that Sean accepts but he can sense there is some hesitation on Sean's part. Sean has been hurt by a past relationship and he's not sure if he can trust again, or if Dave will accept his shortcomings. As their relationship progresses, Sean has to make a critical decision about opening up to Dave or risk losing him.

This was a good short story with well-written characters whose feelings and emotions could be felt on the page. Sean has both physical and emotional scars that he's not sure Dave can accept, and the reader can empathize with him the whole way. Everything from insecurity to fear to humor to desire was expressed by these characters in a short number of pages.

While I would have enjoyed a slightly longer story where the emotional struggles could have been showcased a bit more, the author did a good job of fitting a lot into this short journey. All and all, a good story.
