I really enjoyed Lola/Charlotte's story, especially when she's going back and forth between being a hot, wild celeb and a young dreamer who longs for her soulmate.
Lola can't believe she's an actual celebrity. Having been in the music business only a year, she's still starstruck, but also trying desperately to stay grounded and true to herself--Charlotte Taylor. The harder she tries to split her personality and "fit in" with what the rich and famous are doing, the more she embarrasses herself.
Charlotte heads to NYC on holiday in order to give herself a break and figure out who she really is. Within hours of landing, she meets Blake Hudson, and she just knows… this is the man of her dreams, her soulmate, the one she sees as her future in her daydreams. The two are inseparable almost immediately, and their hearts become entwined. But between secrets, lies and half-truths, both of them are keeping their true identities from one another. Will the love they found be short-lived?
The first book in the Best Things In Life Series, WALK ON BY was a fun look into the British world of celebrity with a singer who really wants to stay true to herself written by reality TV celebrity Stacey Solomon. The MC tries to split her personality up to fit in more with the London A list, often with hilarious results. It seems her bum is always in the air as she stumbles through her encounters, or she gets severe cases of foot in mouth syndrome. I found Charlotte to be a very lovable character, and I liked the diary style writing of this book.
It was kind of odd though that the two of them didn't share any intimate knowledge of one another, especially after they became intimate. Their chemistry was excellent and immediate, I thought they made a fabulous couple. Most of the book was very fun-loving and the first half of the book were quite PG, so I was surprised by the erotic bent of the scenes when Charlotte and Blake came together. Pleasantly surprised!
Bottom Line: A sweetly fun book that takes you inside the life of a London celeb and makes you fall in love with love. Looking forward to more books in this series.
