Ex-SEAL Zach Buchanan can sum Beth Carmichael up in two words--trouble magnet. Ever since his sister Loretta befriended her, she's been in and out of trouble, and Beth a constant thorn in his side. For five years and a multitude of reasons, he's fought his feelings by avoiding her, but when she telephones out of the blue with news she's in Columbia and Loretta has been abducted, he is forced to confront her again, along with his demons. To rescue Loretta, they must put aside their history and start afresh because the ransom terms are specific. Beth must make the delivery. Simple enough until things turn sour and they are forced on a journey through thick jungle and mountainous terrain. Thrown together, Zach's eyes are opened and he learns some truths about himself--could he have misjudged Beth all these years?

When he needs help saving his sister, the men that he was in the military with come to help him, but while out there in the jungle, he will learn who "Babycakes" really is.

This is the second installment in the Desire Series and I loved seeing all of the guys again. These guys are hoots; they are like brothers and believe me, they tease each other as if they were. Then two women are introduced, and I knew from the beginning that Loretta was going to be trouble, and of course Beth "Babycakes" was the one that took all the blame, at least in Zach's eyes. These characters were very likeable and there were two more characters that were introduced (Nick and Christian Carmichael) that I can't wait to see if Ms. Macadam is going to be writing a book on them. But there were two characters that I would really like to read about next, that would be Hawk and Havoc. But the one that really piqued my interest was Hawk and how he protected Loretta and he was the one to carry her though the jungle and won't let her go. But enough of that. Let's get into this story and why I loved this book so much.

Beth "Babycakes" Carmichael is a character that I really liked. She turned into a woman that valued her job and the love that she felt for Zach was still burning hot inside of her. When the opportunity came for her to go to Columbia, and Loretta wanted to go too, Beth didn't think anything about it. Yes, she did fib to her brothers and parents about where she was going, or should I say she omitted certain information. Her colleague did let her know that Columbia was dangerous but she didn't think anything about it.

Ex-SEAL Zach "Wolf" Buchanan knew that he should have done more in keeping "Babycakes" away from his sister. When Loretta started hanging around the new girl, she started acting out and she was even caught smoking dope at school. But he never gave Beth the chance to talk to explain what happened; he just assumed that his sister never did anything wrong. As time passed, it seemed that Beth and Loretta were no longer getting into trouble, but that changed when he received that phone call from Loretta that she was in Columbia and that she had been kidnapped. I felt so sorry for him but he was judging Beth without knowing all the details and he was being a big arse. Zach and his friends were able to get a plane and help once in Columbia and he was not going to rest until he saved his sister.

In Columbia, Loretta ends up trusting the wrong man who kidnapped her. Beth is going to have to go toe to toe with Zach and make sure he knows that he can't boss her around. He is going to push her and make it seem that it was her fault that his baby sister is being held for ransom. She is going to have to toughen herself up because she is going to have to walk through a jungle and make a judgment call. She is going to be surrounded by men that want to protect her but the one person that she wants hates her. When she finds herself in his arms, his lips touching hers, the last thing she expected was for him to reject her. It is going to be a touch and go for them all but especially for Loretta in the journey to extract her and take her back home.

DESIRE DENIED was a story that captured my attention from the very beginning. This story had a perfect balance of everything I loved. Yes, I have to say, there was a hint of drama, some parts were frustrating then of course there was action and then there was chemistry between Zach and Beth. Ms. Madacam gave me the chance to get to know these two awesome characters and of course their friends, and I want to know more about them. The pace of this story was a little rushed but not to the point that I thought I missed anything important. Who doesn't want more in the ending, maybe an epilogue, but at least I can say that after their journey, they did have a happily ever after.

This story was beautifully written and the characters were well developed. The story flowed beautifully.

I truly recommend this read and if you haven't read the first book in this series, I totally encourage you to grab it. This story can be read as a standalone.
