"Valorous" is defined as courageous, valiant and brave. Natalie is the very definition of that word in this second book in the Quantum Trilogy.
NYC teacher Natalie Bryant and über megastar Flynn Godfrey are happily ensconced in their new love bubble...until the press gets wind of Natalie's horrific past. Now, everything she's worked for is destroyed as her story gets dissected on every news outlet in the world. Flynn has found the love of his life, and if that means protecting her from the media as well as his darker nature, his dominant side, his need to be in absolute control in bed, then so be it. He'd kill to protect the woman he loves, and nothing, NOTHING is more important than her safety and security and well being.
VALOROUS is the second book in the Quantum Trilogy by the talented Marie Force writing as M.S. Force, showcasing an edgier side of the bestselling romance author. In this book, we get the gritty details behind Natalie's rape as a teenager and the emotional fallout from that horrible experience. Flynn's fury and anguish over her pain is heartfelt and palpable, and his adoration for her just jumped off the page. Like the first book, the sex in VALOROUS was sweetly sensual instead of gritty and raw and dirty, though there were some more erotic dream sequences that were hot.
This story was stuck on repeat pretty much the entire way through. "I love you!" "I love YOU!" "I love YOU!" "I love YOU!" "I must deny my true nature." "There's no way Natalie can ever know the real me." "I'm glad I didn't confess my desires, my sweet innocent wife couldn't handle it." "Natalie must never find out my past." "I don't need to tie her up and spank her ass, I can live without that part of me...who cares about my wet dreams!"
While I enjoyed the first book in this series, Virtuous, I found myself frustrated by the repeated regurgitation of the same situations. Honestly, I feel like this book could've been cut down by 2/3 (or an entire book of the trilogy) and still maintain the overall arc of the trilogy. That said, I am looking forward to reading the final book, Victorious, and hope that the story will finally get juicy since the ending was the best part of VALOROUS.
