WARRIOR'S POSSESSION by Gianna Simone is a period piece that takes place in England, starting in the year 1283. The story opens with three little but powerful words, "He had arrived." And from there we learn the fate of Lady Gillian Marlowe and her soon-to-be husband, the Earl of Montchester (or the Panther).

As a period piece, I was impressed with the author's research into all aspects of the story (language, clothing, food, activities, etc.). And in typical period fashion, Lady Gillian is treated more as an object to be controlled than a partner. Something she wants nothing to do with. Well, mostly. For the Panther has a knack for turning his lady inside out.

Likes: The opening. Very early in, we already know that the Earl is attracted to his betrothed and the feeling appears to be mutual. We instantly know who the main antagonist is (while one remains elusive). The sex scenes and the BDSM scenes are scintillating as it's easy to imagine your own skin warming under the Earl's capable hand.

Dislikes: While this is a dislike, it is also the mark of good storytelling in that I found myself feeling sorry for Gillian on more than one occasion and wanted to shout out to the Earl to listen to her. And there were the occasional burps from some minor grammatical errors that had me figuratively tripping over my own feet because of the pace I read but overall, it didn't affect the story for me.

If you enjoy historical/period pieces that are explicitly erotic with a touch of BDSM, then you definitely want to pick up a copy. You won't be disappointed.
