I love when romance can bloom even in the face of a horrible situation, and that's what you get in SAVING EMILY.
Emily has had it rough. Her parents died tragically, leaving her in the care of an abusive brother. But her one bright spot is the McCade brothers, who own the ranch on which she and her brother live and work. She adores the hunky cowboys, but they treat her like a little sister.
Adam and Cole McCade know that Emily is the woman for them, but they have to wait until she's old enough to be with them. But when they finally get together, her brother's past may come back to destroy the love they've found with each other.
Emily was such an interesting character in this story. She suffers abuse in silence because her brother is all she has, she loves from afar because she thinks her men don't want her, but she's strong enough to take on two hunky alpha men when she's basically had no experience with dating at all.
Adam and Cole are alpha with a capital A, and they know that they want to share their woman. They show such exceptional care and love for Emily. It makes them all the more delicious.
The relationship between the men and Emily seemed a bit rushed, but then I had to remember that Emily had been living on their ranch for four years, so they had quite the history with each other. It made the fast-moving courtship seem move believable when placed in that perspective. Their romance was quite erotic, and they really seemed to take great relish into pleasing Emily sensually speaking.
One thing that really took me out of the story was the fact that Emily went from being a virgin to having sex with two men at the same time in a matter of pages. It seemed like that aspect of the story was way too rushed for me, and it made it hard for me to get back into the story.
I felt like the story had a unique perspective. Having an abusive sibling is much different than what we see in many stories. I think it would have been a bit better though if Emily was given the chance to recover from the abuse before getting into a committed relationship.
Overall, this erotic short had some really redeeming factors, unique plot, strong characters, and very sensual romance elements. While I didn't like everything about it, I did enjoy reading the story. This is my first Becky Wilde story, and I think I'll be trying some of her other works very soon!
