Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy
The New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled books returns with the third romance in the Legal Briefs series, a collection of sexy novels about first crushes, second chances, and the final verdict of the heart.
When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn't see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate—and prized—parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Louboutins.
When Kennedy looks at Brent, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue–worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school in order to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell for her.
But she's not a lovesick social outcast anymore—she's a Washington, DC, prosecutor with a long winning streak. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case, and Kennedy thinks it's time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren't exactly working out the way she planned. Brent has his sights set on Kennedy, and every fiery exchange only makes him want her more—and makes her wonder if he's as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. In the end, they may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

So, attorneys may not usually be at the top of my lustometer list, but I may have to revise that opinion based on the hot as Hades suits in Ms. Chase's Legal Briefs series.
Brent Mason has it all: a partnership at his criminal defense law firm, the ability to call up any heiress (or princess…or both) he wants for a booty call, and the freedom to do what he wants, when he wants, without being tied down. Then came Kennedy Randolph. Longtime family friend, once his bestie, once the love of his life. And he hasn't seen her in almost 15 years. And my how she's grown…and oh how she hates Brent. Kennedy immediately starts busting Brent's balls, and damn if it doesn't turn him the hell on. Once they lay all of their old cards on the table and realize their parting all those years ago was a giant cluster of misunderstandings and hurt, the old chemistry flares back to life in full force. And this time, Brent isn't about to let Kennedy go again.
The third book in the Legal Briefs series, APPEALED was just as phenomenal as the first two, and I freakin' adored every single funny page!! Brent was hilarious…cocky and obnoxiously arrogant but a genuinely decent guy. He's loved Kennedy since he was old enough to understand what love was, and when he learns what drove her away all those years ago, his heart broke all over again. But he patiently re-earns her trust, and despite her initial reluctance, she can't help but fall for him again. She was a badass, relentless attorney who took the tough cases with a pitbull mentality (which just turned Brent on more). Tough on the outside, she was still that insecure young woman when it came to Brent, but he proves his commitment and adoration over and over.
And seriously, the ballroom scene toward the beginning? Oh my Gawd, when Brent kidnaps Kennedy? Freaking hysterical! I was literally LOL'ing so hard that I may or may not have ripped my copy of the book. That has to be one of the best romantic scenes of any book ever…absolutely priceless!!Their chemistry was incredible, and their sex just blew me away!! I adored them together, and just wish there was more to come in this fabulous series (and crossing my fingers that the extended epilogue is a teaser for future offerings).
Bottom Line: Put every book in this hysterical, sexy, sweet, raunchy and well written series on the very top of your TBR pile. I'm officially a huge fan of Ms. Chase and will be picking up as much of her work as I can!

4 "Opposing Counsel and 2nd Chances" Stars!
Emma Chase is a whiz at writing romances involving strong, independent, intelligent heroines and the playboy heroes who they ultimately bring to their knees (Kate and Drew anyone?). APPEALED brings back to the forefront this romantic plot line with an extra, 2nd chance at love twist. This of course means that readers will once again get to revel in plenty of witty banter as the heroine and hero fight that inevitable dance towards their HEA. As always, reading an Emma Chase romance is effortless, and immensely entertaining, as the pages practically turn themselves!
When Brent Mason (a partner at the law firm that Stanton and Sofia, from book 1 of the Legal Briefs series, and Jake, from book 2, are partners at) lays eyes on Kennedy Randolph again, after many years apart, he knows one thing: Kennedy is not the same girl who grew up next door and was his best friend. Gone is the awkward but smart, nice girl who captured his attention all those years ago. In her place is a sexy and confident, if somewhat of a ballbreaker, tough as nails prosecutor and she has her eyes set on making Brent pay.
For what, Brent cannot be totally sure, but the one thing he does know, is that he definitely wants to make Kennedy his. Having previously faced incredible challenges, like overcoming an accident in which he lost his leg as a child, he is a man who is not accustomed to hearing no, or being deterred from working hard for the things he wants, and conquering Kennedy will be no different, or will it?
Further adding fuel to the fire that will either envelope Brent and Kennedy and guarantee their union or completely destroy them is an all star cast, that includes one very meddlesome mother, who happens to be best friends with the mother of the other, a politician who has his eyes set on the picture perfect political mate, and an insightful therapist among others. This interesting secondary cast of characters, in addition to cameos from the characters of the prior books in the Legal Briefs series, further round out this story, ensuring that there is a little bit of something for everyone.
I can't wait to read more of Emma Chase's witty romantic comedies in the future!
