Contemporary Romance

During his decade as an international pop star, Jesse McCall has lived every day in the fast lane. A committed hedonist reveling in amazing highs, globetrotting, and nameless encounters, he refuses to think about his loneliness or empty future. Then tragedy strikes.

Shocked and grieving, he sheds his identity and walks away, searching for peace. Instead, he finds Bristol Reese, a no-nonsense beauty scraping to keep her business afloat while struggling with her own demons. He's intent on seducing her, but other than a pleasure-filled night, she's not interested in a player, especially after her boyfriend recently proposed to her sister. In order to claim Bristol, Jesse has to prove he's not the kind of man he's always been. But when she learns his identity and his past comes back to haunt him, how will he convince her that he's a changed man who wants nothing more than to make her his forever?

This book can't be read without causing the reader to look up pics of a certain young and sexy real life bad boy singer who enjoys his celebrity a little more than he should. Oh wait, that's just me looking up pics? Aw, don't judge, that hair is a FORCE!

Shit is NOT supposed to roll uphill. Bad boy pop superstar Jesse McCall is tired of the game, and when his band mate makes some seriously poor life choices, the fallout hits Jesse square between the eyes. Jesse needs to lay low, and if he's honest, he needs to find the man he's meant to be, after the sex, drugs and rock & roll got old.

Down in Texarkana, Bristol Reese is feeling particularly low at the engagement party for her ex-boyfriend…and her sister. Yea. Suddenly a knight in shining…tattoos…comes to her rescue. Bristol doesn't have a clue who this hot dude is who just jumped in as her date, but he'll be perfect for her new goal of no-strings sex! Neither expect their initial spark to turn into an inferno, but when Bristol finds out who Jesse really is, they'll be lucky if their new relationship doesn't go up in flames.

PURE WICKED is a novella in the Wicked Lovers Series by Ms. Black, and also a stand-alone book in the innovative and fun 1001 Dark Nights Series featuring magical and mystical erotic stories by a variety of popular authors inspired by the classic The Arabian Nights tale. At first, I felt like it was a thinly veiled story about Justin Bieber, and not personally being a Belieber, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to empathize or connect with Jesse or Bristol. However, Ms. Black thankfully took Jesse's character and made him a gazillion times more personable and down to earth than I anticipated, and I soooo appreciated that.

Bristol (whose name also evokes some not so positive vibes for yours truly) also wound up being a pretty cool chick. She was a woman who danced to her own beat with no apologies, making her relatable as a small town woman who embraces her neighbors and her life choices. The two MC's had some fabulous chemistry to go along with their house rockin' sex, and even though everything moved pretty quickly it felt plausible-ish. This was a good addition to the 1001 Dark Nights Series and it makes me want to check out more in Ms. Black's Wicked Lovers Series as well.

Bottom Line: Sweet, sexy and a little sassy, PURE WICKED is one to pick up this fall to warm your nights.
