SUMMARY
Some of the Aubrey Rules to Live By:

*If I'm going to indulge in French fries, I must add extra time to the treadmill the next day.
*Always keep your work and private life separate.
*Being open to new experiences will never involve eating kale.
*Never, ever date a professional athlete.

For Chicago social media professional Aubrey Paige, the rules are everything. So much so that Aubrey has painstakingly written her rules for living into a polka-dot Kate Spade notebook that she carries with her at all times. It's her personal guidebook to living her life. These rules are the Holy Grail—ones never to be broken. They guide her actions for everything, from dealing with workplace drama to finding a great guy to date. After all, these are her own rules, built from her life experiences and observations. So they have to be perfect, right?

Or are they?

Because when Aubrey meets a cute Canadian, she suddenly finds her rules being tested and challenged in ways she never dreamed possible. Beckett Riley is the shy, quiet, determined captain of the Chicago Buffaloes, a hockey team on the verge of turning the corner to becoming a winning organization. He's Aubrey's opposite, with so many qualities that Aubrey had listed as ones she'd never want in a man.

Yet Aubrey finds herself drawn to Beckett in ways she's never known. And when she unexpectedly finds herself working with Beckett, she wonders if rules are meant to be broken after all . . .

A dreamy but shy hockey star who doesn't know just how hot he is? I think many of us would happily help bring him out of his shell…

Aubrey Page is NEVER late. It's #1 in her rule book for goodness' sake! But then there's this thing with her alarm and an elevator and a tampon and a handsome stranger and suddenly her dream job is more of a pipe dream as the clock keeps right on ticking. Of COURSE, the damn handsome stranger would be hockey star Beckett Riley, captain of the Chicago Buffaloes. And WOAH, is he one sexy man!! One deliciously sexy man who comes to her rescue.

When Aubrey meets Beckett again after her new company lands his social media account, shy and sweet Beckett immediately requests her and only her. The two are soon inseparable, spending every moment side by side, getting to know one another and developing something deeper than either thought possible. Can their new relationship survive old insecurities?

THE AUBREY RULES is the first book in the Chicago on Ice Series and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! I've learned that sports books can go either way…either the puns and storyline are ridiculously cheesy, or it's so delicious that it makes me desperate to go find my own own big sweaty playa. Fortunately, THE AUBREY RULES was well written and terrifically funny, with chemistry that scorched my kindle (even if the sex was only alluded to instead of detailed). This sweet story was told from Aubrey's POV, and she details how she breaks every single one of her dating rules when it comes to the sexy hockey player. He's only a player on the ice though. Off the ice, Beckett is insecure about his nerdiness and fears that Aubrey will figure out that she only wants his reputation and not the man underneath. Audrey's concerned that Beckett will figure out that he's superhot and that he could have anyone he wants. I thought this was a lovely little sweetly sensual read that fans of non-graphic, funny chick-lit stories will adore.

Bottom Line: If nothing else, you must read THE AUBREY RULES for their fabulous take on the classic Breakfast at Tiffany's movie!
