Born to a noble Breed lineage steeped in exotic ritual and familial duty, vampire warrior Jehan walked away from the luxurious trappings of his upbringing in Morocco to join the Order's command center in Rome.
But when a generations-old obligation calls Jehan home, the reluctant desert prince finds himself thrust into an unwanted handfasting with Seraphina, an unwilling beauty who's as determined as he is to resist the antiquated pact between their families.
Yet as intent as they are to prove their incompatibility, neither can deny the attraction that ignites between them. And as Jehan and Seraphina fight to resist the calling of their blood, a deadly enemy seeks to end their uneasy truce before it even begins…

As usual, the brilliant minds behind the 1001 Dark Nights series have given me a new series that I can't wait to read more of!
In a world where humans and vampires live, work and govern together, there's a Rogue faction of vampires that threaten the fragile peace between the two. Breed warrior Prince Jehan is determined to shut the Rogues down before war between the races descends. When Jehan is summoned home to Morocco, he must obey. As part of a blood pact with a neighboring tribe, Jehan must be mated to a Breedmate from that tribe if peace between the two is to continue.
Seraphina has no desire to participate in an antiquated pact, but, just as Jehan, she's compelled by tradition to meet him. Neither anticipate the immediate spark of awareness between them, nor just how hard it would be to keep their hands off of each other during their required eight-night seclusion together. Will a mating between a warrior and a peacekeeper ever stand a chance?
STROKE OF MIDNIGHT is a novella in the Midnight Breed series by Ms. Adrian, and also a stand-alone book in the innovative and fun 1001 Dark Nights series featuring sensual and erotic stories by a variety of popular authors inspired by the classic The Arabian Nights tale.
I don't know why, but I'm always surprised when I enjoy a paranormal read, and I so enjoyed STROKE OF MIDNIGHT. While I've never read any other books in the Midnight Breed series, it didn't lessen my fascination with Jehan and Sera and their eight nights of forced handfasting. Their chemistry lit up the epages, I didn't know whether I wanted them to duke it out or just do it! They were both terrifically strong characters, even more so for being on opposing sides of the stance on war and warriors. Even the underlying suspense was played out well for such a short book.
Bottom Line: STROKE OF MIDNIGHT makes me want to check out more in the Midnight Breed series and, of course, makes me eager to find out what's in store next in the 1001 Dark Nights series!
