SUMMARY
A Fallen Guardian Novella. BK 1.5

After a horrifying incident that left her in a coma for several long months, Echo now has to get used to a different life. As a descendant of a powerful angel, her days waver between training as the new Healer and convincing her mate she's strong enough to match him in life and in bed.
A surprise date night gives her the perfect opportunity to do both. But plans have a way of coming unraveled. One disaster leads to another, and Echo accepts that nothing in their lives will ever be normal.
But the biggest revelation of the night comes after she kills a dangerous, soul-sucking demonii. Sparks fly between her and her mate, proving that normal is most definitely overrated.

Love is not always easy. Just when you think you have found happiness, something can put it all at risk again. When love is tested, only the strongest relationships survive.

This novella takes place shortly after the events in Absolute Surrender and you should read that before reading this story. Echo and Aethan risked it all to be together and seemed to have found their happiness. After Echo awakens from a coma, her mate is not as willing as she is to return to their normal relationship. He wants to keep her safe. Echo did not go thru everything to end up with this kind of relationship and fights to get back her mate.

While this may be a shorter story, the author delivers a full story. Many novellas leave me feeling like I am missing a piece of the story at the end. I did not feel that way with this novella. It was long enough to offer a developed storyline that really added to the original story of their relationship and all the hardships they faced in order to be together. These characters are ones that are easy to connect to and form a foundation for the other stories to come so it was a pleasure to spend more time with them.

Echo is a fighter and she won't let fear stop her. Aethan is very powerful and strong but it is Echo who really offers the emotional strength to him and to others around them. When their love is tested, it is Echo who faces the battle directly. This novella gives the reader some more time with these characters who are very important to the other storylines in the series. It is a complete story that offers the action and romance you expect from the series in a more compact storyline.
