Stephanie Hartwell is a journalist chasing the story of her career…
When superstar hockey player and notorious bad boy Aleksandr Volynsky is traded to the Seattle Earthquakes in a blockbuster deal, Stephanie demands the opportunity to prove herself by scoring an exclusive interview with a man with no love for the media…the same man she once thought, as a naïve teenager, she'd someday marry.
An Olympian and Stanley Cup Champion, Aleksandr has achieved every goal he's ever set…
Now expected to carry a failing team on his shoulders, Aleksandr's troubles deepen when he encounters Stephanie after a season-opening loss. His lifestyle of drinking and random hookups has been a futile attempt to forget the beautiful tomboy who stole his heart nine years ago. And worse, fame and fortune have made it impossible for him to trust anyone—especially Stephanie, who is engaged to another man.
Romance rekindles, but tragedy reveals Aleksandr's dark side…
Being with Aleksandr in the first place jeopardizes Stephanie's journalistic integrity and threatens her career, and when he spirals out of control, it reawakens fears from her own history, making her unable to commit to a future with him.
When Aleksandr discovers the truth behind his self-destructive behavior, will his newfound self-awareness be enough to convince Stephanie to give him one last chance…
Or will his revelation drive her away for good?

Jennifer Loring has a new fan! FIREBIRD blew me away with its raw emotion, intensity and the love between two people who simply belong together.
Stephanie Hartwell needs a story or she's going to lose her job as a sports journalist. An interview with the successful, womanizing hockey star Aleksandr Volynsky could be her ticket to a promotion but her boss doesn't know that Steph and Alex were high school sweethearts until Aleksandr had to return to Russia and Steph stopped all contact.
Now, nine years later, Alex and Stephanie meet again and their connection is stronger than ever. But Stephanie is engaged to be married and rekindling her relationship with Alex would not only destroy her personal life but also be professional suicide.
The love between these two is so strong, it goes beyond attraction or chemistry. Everything seems to be headed in the right direction until their new relationship is burdened by terrible tragedy and both of them have a lot of growing up to do.
Jennifer Loring did an outstanding job with FIREBIRD. The emotions flow across the pages, grabbing the reader with their intensity. The relationship between Alex and Steph is extraordinary and seems destined. At the same time, they both have a tough road ahead of them. They need to work on their issues before they can truly come together as a couple. Both Alex and Stephanie evolve as individuals immensely in the course of the book and Jennifer Loring manages to keep the story entertaining throughout. FIREBIRD made laugh, cry and put a smile on my face when I made it to the end. While there is a proper happy ending, there will be a follow-up story and I can't wait.
Jennifer Loring has a new fan in me and I highly recommend FIREBIRD to all romance lovers. FIREBIRD is not an easy or light read but you will not be disappointed!
