After his loser boyfriend pushes him too far, Kody Donovan decides that he wants more than just someone to warm his bed at night. When he meets Conley Norton, vampire and leader of the west coast covens, not to mention walking sex dream, Kody couldn't be happier. Especially when Kody finds his other mate, the equally hot and sexy vampire, Marc Rindge, hours later.
Kody thinks that life couldn't be more perfect than it is in that moment, despite the danger being the mate of such a powerful man entails. Unfortunately life is rarely perfect, as Kody soon discovers. Marc and Conley have a history together and it's not one that ended happily.
When the two men are faced with having to share the mate or spend eternity alone, they try to be civil. But can Conley overcome his past relationship's mistakes, or will he repeat history with Kody?

This third installment in Joyee Flynn's Purr-fect Mates Series is another step in the right direction. This series has made steady improvements in story line and character development with each book.
Kody Donovan is a saber-tooth tiger shifter. They are very rare, and as a member of the cat shifter family is destined to have two mates and must claim them within 48 hours of meeting them or die. After dating Steve, a wolf shifter, for a year, Kody is finally tired of putting up with him and he knows Steve isn't his mate, so why stick around? In the process of leaving, Kody is jumped by Steve and his buddies, when a stranger steps in and helps him.
Conley Norton, vampire coven master of the west coast covens, knew as soon as he smelled the tiger shifter that he was his mate and doesn't waste anytime claiming him. Kody is thrilled to have met one of his mates and overlooks Conley's bossiness. While the two are traveling to another coven, Kody meets his second mate, another vampire named Marc, who has a history with Conley. Things start off happily but soon the "honeymoon" heat wears off.
Marc has known Conley for years and he is not surprised when things start to go badly, but the most important thing to him is taking care of Kody, even if that means leaving his other mate.
I liked this story but I didn't love it. I enjoyed reading about the couples from the previous books and especially liked the story line for Avery from Here Kitty, Kitty. I thought that was a nice addition to this story.
However, I had a hard time connecting to the main characters for this book. Conley seems so self-centered and mean that I didn't want Kody and Marc to reconcile with him, even after I learned the reasoning behind his behavior. We don't know any of the mythology surrounding the vampire community, i.e: can they go out in daylight, are they made or born, etc. I felt some history was needed.
Another problem that has been prevalent throughout this series is the repetitive phrasing. This author seems to be improving with each subsequent book so I am not ready to give up yet.
