Some wolves were never meant for a mate...
Dr. Jason Ayers unleashes all of his rage and his frustration through fists and brute force in an underground boxing ring. The werewolf may be the pack's doctor, but he can't even heal his coma-stricken father after the Nero Organization's attack stopped his heart. And as his Pack brothers settle down around him, he still refuses to believe in the fairy tale notion that every wolf has a true mate...
In hiding and on the run, nurse Kilani Akamu is a loose end that Nero is desperate to tie up. She can't afford to be attracted to a doctor-especially one as unexpectedly hot and complex as Jason. Yet the sexual sparks arcing between them are undeniable...and Kilani's precognitive senses warn her that temptation is inevitable.
All it takes is one touch to send Jason's wolf howling. But even if he could protect her from Nero, he can't protect her from himself...

His pain is intense. He risks permanent damage to his body every time he fights to release the pain. He has lost hope until he finds her. She captures his attention and his heart. She is on the run and needs protection. Can they save each other from the people that have destroyed so many that they love and care about?
Jason is the pack doctor. He is committed to saving lives. When his pack most needed him, he failed to save his alpha and now his father is dying. It haunts him and has led him to engaging in destructive fights that leave his body hurting but his mind clearer. He has given up on finding a mate like so many of his pack. Everything changes for him when he meets Kilani. She needs him and he vows to protect her from the organization that has harmed so many in his pack.
Kilani is a nurse on the run. She is a loose end to the organization that killed her roommate and has been sent to Reno to hide. She has not had much luck with romance. A doctor like Jason is not someone she wants to give a chance to break her heart again. When her life is threatened, he ends up being the person she has to count on to keep her safe. The attraction is strong and she tries hard to resist. Kilani also tries to hide her psychic abilities from him.
This is the fourth book in the Moon series. Each book introduces the reader to another couple that is meant for each other but in extreme danger from the Nero organization. The organization is intent on experimenting with psychic women and shifters to create a new, super breed. They are willing to kill and kidnap innocents to get what they want. The men in the pack know who their mate is as soon as they touch her. Once they identify their mate, there is nothing they won't do to protect her.
I would recommend you read all the books in order to get the most enjoyment out of the series. The storyline really builds as the series continues and the earlier characters continue to be a major part of the story. Jason's actions were harder to understand earlier in the series and this book gives you the information you need to really put his earlier behavior into context. He is a man that wants someone to love desperately but pretends to not believe that there are destined mates out there for each of the members of the pack in order to avoid disappointment.
The Moon series offers a great combination of action and romance. Each book focuses on a couple that are destined to be together. They have to fight the Nero organization to be together. They also often have to fight their own personal demons. Jason has been fighting his demons especially since he was unable to save his alpha. He is slowly destroying his body in order to push away the pain. Kilani also hides her pain as she tries to start a new life safely away from the people that want her dead. Finding each other is the one thing that may save them both from the dangerous path they have been on for so long. It is a great series that is best read in order to get the most enjoyment from the books.
