I had high hopes for this short read, but was super disappointed by both the storyline and the characters.
When Olivia Connors gets pulled over by deliciously hot cop Vaden Holbrook, she's thrilled to live out a fantasy fuck that's fuel her orgasms for a long time. What she didn't anticipate were the emotions that came along with the ride of her life. The young widow has finally found the passion that was lacking in her ten-year marriage, but it's too bad she's found it with a confirmed player and emotionally unavailable bad boy.
If Vaden was to commit to anyone, it would be the gorgeous "lady in the streets but a freak in the bed" Olivia. When Vaden's dirty police work enters her pristine world, will he wake up and realize she's worth giving his heart to?
BAD TO THE BONE is a hot little nugget of sexcapades, from dirty arrest fantasies to a bit of B&E involving a dildo and a breakup, this book was a fast paced sex fest. Unfortunately, it lacked characters that had any depth or evoked any empathy. Olivia was a woman obsessed with an unobtainable bad boy cop, the direct opposite of her deceased husband. She was that annoying chick who tells the man it's over, then whines when he says ok and doesn't fight for her. She was a hateful, vindictive bitch as well, using her sexuality to make Vaden jealous, snarling at an ex-boyfriend for ten-year-old sins, and basically acting like a petty brat. She was definitely one of the worst MC's I've encountered, and Vaden was just as bad: an emotionally bankrupt man who had little personality and only wanted his toy back when another man grabbed for it.
The dialogue was cringe-worthy on many levels, basically making me shake my head the entire way through this (thankfully) short work. The only redeeming qualities were the sex scenes, which were erotic (when Olivia's inner monologue didn't ruin the mood). The book ended with a cliffhanger, but to be honest, I'm not intrigued enough to find out more about this terribly annoying couple.
Bottom Line: Sexy but short on substance.
