SUMMARY
Five years ago, three best friends in high school discovered they were in love with the same girl. They made a pact to wait, to be her best friends until they were all mature enough to share her forever. Time's up. Now to tell Jane…

Jane's three best friends, diplomatic Sam, blunt Jack, and intense Rick, obviously love her, but she is in for a shock when they tell her they are in love with her and want to share her. They each went to different colleges but come back together to live in a New York City apartment to start their careers and, unbeknownst to Jane, their courtship of her. These three men are very different but they form a whole that is perfect for their Janie.

Three guys, one girl. That's not the typical arrangement outside the boundaries of friendship. For the characters in Virginia Lauten's FATE IN WAITING, it's just a matter of time before young Jane realizes her knight in shining armor comes in a group of three.

While the heat level is intense with m/m/m/f action, some of the interaction almost seemed unrealistic given how the characters were developed. From the beginning, Jane is depicted as this innocent girl who has no clue that her besties want to jump her body.

The three male characters -- Rick, Sam and Jack -- are united in their efforts to convince Jane that a group of four is simply a matter of fate. There's a lot of dialog back and forth as Jane gets a crash course in the workings of menage love.

The author handles the physical aspect well, but the storyline lacks sufficient depth to create a solid balance. I would have liked Jane to be a stronger version of herself because it's not every day that your dreams of the future appear in triplicate.
