This is Olivia Cunning's debut novel and her first in the Sinners on Tour series. Backstage Pass is well-written and I think Olivia has a lot of potential for the future. I was excited to read this novel because of the rock band idea. I've read a lot of books in my life but I can't recall reading any that centered around a rock band. Olivia does a great job building her characters and you'll grow to love them all. The members in the band are all very different except that they're all drop-dead gorgeous and super sexy. Olivia also knows how to write a very hot and steamy novel. This book will be a real treat for die-hard erotica fans.
Myrna is a psychology professor who specializes in human sexuality and happens to be a rock 'n' roll fan. Myrna had some trouble with her ex husband in the past that keeps her from dating, and the word love is out of the question. Then we have Brian who wears his heart on his sleeve and falls in love very easily. Which you wouldn't expect from a famous lead guitarist in a band name Sinners. Brian also has a special way of writing music and it happens to be during sex. Right from the beginning Brian and Myrna are attracted to each other and start having hot, fabulous sex.
There were a few things that bothered me in this book but are totally based on my opinion. First, there wasn't a lot of sexual tension in this book. They go at it right from the beginning. Although some erotica fans would have no problem with this I just felt like they could have taken it a little slower to build the excitement. I also felt like the book didn't have any major conflict or action. I kept waiting for her to get kidnapped or something.
I would highly recommended this book to fans of erotica. It is full of hot, steamy sex of all types. However, if you're not into all types of kinky sex, then this book isn't for you. There are very explicit sex scenes, including one m/f/m scene. Because of the two issues I had, I will be giving Backstage Pass a 4 star rating. I know that there are some readers out there who are going to love this book, so don't let my opinions sway your decision to read this book.
