- Book 3 of Boston Fire
When Jamie Rutherford takes a temporary assignment as lieutenant of Boston Fire's Engine 59, she doesn't anticipate any problems. She's been in the fire service for a long time and, even though she's fairly new to Boston, she knows how to make any firehouse her home. What she's not prepared for is her reaction to firefighter Scott Kincaid.
Scott is looking for a wife. It's been a fun ride as a single guy, but he's tired of being the third wheel, and nearly losing his brother-in-law finally made him realize just how much he wants a family of his own. When the new guy at the firehouse turns out to be a capable, confident and very attractive woman, his plan is completely derailed.
Hooking up with a fellow firefighter has never been part of Jamie's plan, but she's tempted by Scott—even though getting involved with him could tarnish the reputation she's worked so hard for. And Scott can't stop thinking about Jamie, despite the fact that she's his superior and not sticking around. Chemistry can crush the best-laid plans, though, and while Jamie and Scott might not be each other's future…there's no resisting the right now.

Yet another fantastic addition to the Boston Fire series!
Scott Kincaid is shocked when Engine 59's temporary lieutenant Jamie Rutherford shows up...after all, he was sure Jamie was short for James! The sexy boss lady lights his fuse immediately, and likewise, Jamie is left hot and bothered at the sight of the sexy hot tempered firefighter. But Jamie knows a workplace romance would ruin her career, so her attraction to Scott will have to remain at a few covert glances at his ass here and there. Until one stolen kiss steals their senses and neither can look back.
The sex is outstanding…but their connection is a hell of a lot deeper than that, and both find themselves wishing that they didn't have to hide their relationship from everyone. But eventually they'll have to make some tough choices when Jamie's time at Engine 59 is up.
UGH, every time I pick something up by Ms. Stacey, I fall in love with a different one of her characters. This time around it's Scotty's turn. The once manwhore with a temper is "off" of dating, ready and looking for Missus Right when Jamie enters his life. I loved Jamie, she's a kick ass, take no prisoners heroine who is as comfortable leading the charge into a fire as she is embracing her sexual side, numerous hot as hell times, with Scott. There's no huge drama or mystery or suspense, but a good ole fashioned love story about two people who fall hard for each other but want different things.
Somehow Ms. Stacey makes it feel fresh and real and captivating and fun and FUNNY without having all of those elements to take away from the beauty of the relationship. It broke my heart that Scott couldn't handle his woman constantly in the literal line of fire, even though he knew she was more than capable of handling herself on duty, no doubt even more than he was. The conflict gave me a serious case of the feels. This book just solidified Ms. Stacey as one of my favorite authors, and this series as one I'll recommend to my friends as well as to all of you.
Bottom Line: Do yourself a favor and pick up all of the books in the delicious Boston Fire series. Although this can be read as a standalone, this is one cast of characters you'll want to get to know.
